Sorry for the late reply Chris, a lot going on my life at the moment and not all of it good. But that is one nice thimble, children were used to mend and sew things up until the early 20th c. But this could even belong to a small adult. Once again, nice one.

Gold plated. Found in field with 1700's and 1800's coins and relics

Here is the first thimble I have found. I am not sure what the advertisement is for. I believe it is some oil company.

Here is my best one and the only second one I have found. I found it this past weekend. It is crushed but it is made of sterling.

My first thimble found in a ghost town called irvinebank in Queensland. Pretty sure it's silver

better late than never, this is my Golden thimble found in Maryland in 2013805.webp806.webp

I've dug many silver ones over the past 22 years, some of which were quite ornate...but my favorite thimble is this find from South Louisiana. It says in French "Un Seul Me Suffit" which means "Only One Is Enough."

Ok this is a bit sad, posting mine in amongst the many really good ones like the previous post(nice on BB). But here goes. Haven't found too many in the past 30 some years....sterling one, Purity Bread advertising one, and a deteriorated brass one that seems to be iron mixed??? I know you asked for the best, but with only these, I can't be choosy,lol..
