Found this button a few days ago and decided to clean it with some Aluminum Jelly what a difference it made. Before and after shots. 004.JPG005.JPG003.JPG005.JPG004.JPG

Can you explain your cleaning process in detail? I have some aluminum jelly ready to use on some buttons.

I love using the jelly too but please be careful with it. If the item you're cleaning doesn't have gilt you can do more damage than good. And when you apply the jelly it's always safe to only leave it on for 30 seconds or so for the 1st application to make sure you won't damage the item. From there you can usually tell how long to go with later applications, but always err on the side of caution. I've also had a few buttons that the gilt was totally dissolved by the jelly in only a few seconds. Experiment on some cruddy finds first, then proceed with caution on your good stuff. It can produce a fantastic result as with the button in this post, but that's not always the case. You'll get better with experience, as it's taken me 15 years to feel comfortable with what I'm doing. Good luck!

Here's a before and after of my Argentinian train worker's button... aluminum jelly worked great! I did three 5-minute treatments.

I tried on a different type of button (no gild) and it did nothing. But I have other buttons that I think this will work well on!
Very nice. That button is now much more enjoyable to look at!!!

What a great save... You definitely did justice to that button.
