🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Piece of petrified wood?

I found it on the creek bed next to a creek in Atlanta where there was heavy fighting during the American Civil War

Are telling me the petrification process cannot be interrupted? This site says it takes 5-10 thousand years to petrify. Maybe it was pushed out of the sea on a wave after only 2500 years.https://www.fossildesign.it/en/how-is-fossilized-wood-formed#:~:text=How long does the petrification,just 5,000 to 10,000 years.
Never said that couldn't happen...BUT any piece of wood that didn't fully petrify, the part that wasn't turned to stone would of rotted away centuries ago.
