So to somewhat rehash CTom’s post - he and I raided the Philly area with the intention to do a little reverse carpet bagging - however the local Yanks did more than hold their own and tho we left with our pockets full of booty - our tails had quite a few bruises from the many skirmishes.
I had no expectations of finding the old coppers but they pushed back my oldest coins by over 100 years. I found the Barber quarter and the SLQ in the same yard and on the same morning! Down here we're lucky to find those two in the same year. Tom and I showed the bracelet to the homeowner and he said he had no idea who it could belong to and for me to keep it. The bracelet is the first jewelry (and practically the first item at all) that my wife has shown any interest in - she spent half the day yesterday cleaning and shining it up and it looks like new money.
From the guy who let me keep the bracelet to the lady who not only graciously let us hunt her property but even brought me out a cold beer folks could not have been nicer. The South is known for it’s hospitality and from what I had heard Philly is rumored to be totally the opposite. Let me tell you those rumors are completely off base! We were in a really bad looking neighborhood ( kinda intimidating at first) but the people seemed to go out of their way to speak to you - the way it used to be down here.
This was a really great trip and we are so happy to have met and hunted with such outstanding detectorists.
