Permission Granted? What do you think?

Okay so this is the deal:
The highway department has acquired the property in front of the office I work in and they tore down a store that was there. I called the high department and spoke with a very nice guy (after several transfers). He said that the highway dept cannot give me permission to md the place but that it should not be a problem. He said "I think it would be a great place" and "Have fun". He said that if anyone asks me that I cannot say that the highway department gave me permission but that I shouldn't be bothered by anyone and that the highway department doesn't care. Really, I'm confused.

I have been lurking around here for a while and I have taken away to always get permission. So what do you think? Do I have "permission" or should I just not chance causing any problems? I don't know what to do.

On the other hand I called the local parks department and was told that I can hunt at any of the local parks. The guy told me that I have to half whatever I find with him. I ask what if I find one penny? He told me that I better get busy finding another one. lol

Not nearly as hard to ask as I thought it would be.

Back to the question at hand. Do I have something to do at lunch or shall I skip it?

Go for it........The hwy Dept won't give you permission because of possible litigation with you hurting your self at the site. This is the reason many landowners also refuse permission. If asked to leave, just leave and maybe come back another day as it seems there is no law your breaking.

Thanks guys. Will be there tomorrow. Yesterday it was like 18 degrees but Sunday it is supposed to be 70 so I will be right on it. I hate cold weather... I feel sorry for all of you people who have to contend with REAL cold weather.

That would be a true statement, since you never said they ( the highway dept) gave you permission to be there. LOL

Sometimes, for some people, it's better to do things the safe way even though you know it's not right.
