I agree with CIVILMAN1, they are the heads off lead headed nails. I find them all the time. HH

Yep. Find them all the time as well. They are not a Civil War related relic for sure.

and since no one answered the OP's question... the lead was to seal the nail hole in the roof and keep it from leaking.

I find them all the time as well.

The left one might be a lead 'cap' but the right one either had a very large nail or it doesn't make sense. Because roof nails are not that diameter!
