Over the past couple years of detecting in Baltimore City there have been three instances when I've had a nickel in the hole with a Barber quarter; the most recent occurred this past Saturday. This time it was an 1888 V-nickel that was recovered first and then, after replacing the plug I was still getting a good signal. Dug an adjacent plug and found the other coin....an 1895 Barber quarter. The coin looks like it was dropped around 1900.

Much earlier in the hunt I dug an old suspender clip. Contemporary with digging the coin spill I retrieved a marble from a hole.

These finds represented several firsts for me from this site: silver, suspender clip and marble.

Here's the video of these finds and more from that hunt.

Thx Johncoho! It was good to hear I had another signal once I'd recovered the V-nickel and even better to find silver.

Thx deershed! It had been a while since my last silver coin. Nice to break the drought.

Thanks Art! All good. The suspender clip came as I was grid-searching an area. The spill came from re-visiting an area where I'd dug a streetcar token the week before.

Thx Aureus! Always amazed at what surfaces, even from places people have hammered.

Thx VTColonialDigger! Good to hear from the Green Mountain State. GL and HH!

Thx Jamie1993! Great to hunt together at a park new to us both. Congrats on your "V"!

Thx sprailroad! What a tremendous story; thanks for sharing that with the forum! Another Barber/V recovery!

Thanks Smokey! I like those clad quarter spills. Beats finding 25 memorials!

Thanks Bryant! I think the hunters of the 70s and 80s got the Washington silvers. From stories the old-timers have told me they'd walk out of the parks with handfuls of silvers. Don't mind working the iffy signals for the deep targets they left behind.

McCDig you have been Busy!! That Silver is Beautiful!! I hope to get up to one of your club meetings someday..You guys really dig some treasures up there in Baltimore!

Thx Stretch! Not seeing the "skull" but able to read the patent of "1856 & '70". HH and GL!

Thx Trezurehunter! Headed back to that park tomorrow AM. Mid-19th century map shows this area to be farmland.

Thanks Tony! Looking forward to some more deep repeatables when I hit the park tomorrow! HH and GL!

Thx DDF! I agree with your grading; looks like a VF coin to me. Thanks for checking out the post!

Thanks vpnavy! One of those hunts that renews hope.

Thx OBN! Congrats on your finds this year! You're right about the finds from this group. Playing the competition board each month is a tough gig!

Whew that's a pretty quarter! Nice job

Thx J.Cache! Been about a year since I'd dug one. HH and GL!

Nice coins! That barber is in immaculate shape!
