Over the past couple years of detecting in Baltimore City there have been three instances when I've had a nickel in the hole with a Barber quarter; the most recent occurred this past Saturday. This time it was an 1888 V-nickel that was recovered first and then, after replacing the plug I was still getting a good signal. Dug an adjacent plug and found the other coin....an 1895 Barber quarter. The coin looks like it was dropped around 1900.

Much earlier in the hunt I dug an old suspender clip. Contemporary with digging the coin spill I retrieved a marble from a hole.

These finds represented several firsts for me from this site: silver, suspender clip and marble.

Here's the video of these finds and more from that hunt.

Thx ATW. The marble was an incidental find, but very happy to finally get one from this site. Looks older to me. It had been about a year since digging a Barber and it came as my first silver coin from this site. Amazing hunt .

Nice finds McCdig. That Barber is in great shape. The marble is my second choice. I always like finding those, especially the clay ones from the fields.

Congrats! Sweet looking Barber there! :occasion14:
It looks like there might be a skull on the suspender clip... do you see that too?

Crisp looking Barber. Congrats!

Nice Barber. My spills in the city have been new stuff only.

McCDig, Same thing happened to me one time, out in the woods, got a signal, iron tones with a couple of high pitch sounds, (was using an AT Pro that day) almost passed it up, decided to dig, found rusty pieces of a pocket knife, covered the hole, and then thought about the high pitch, dug it back up, and found a Barber quarter! Covered the hole. Walking away, thought about it. If a fella sat there, and a small pocket knife a quarter dropped out of his pocket, ya think he might of had a penny as well? dug it back up again, using a pinpointer, found a V nickel in the side of the hole. I was having a VERY good moment. You can bet I scoured all around there, but nothing else. Man, you just never know, more so with some of those "iffy" signals.

Congrats on the coin spill. Great looking Barber. The suspend clip was a cool find in the park. Never would of thought of finding the V nickle in that great of shape. Thanks for having me a long on your hunt. It turned out to be a great day for both of us.
Thanks again McCDig

Sweet spill!! Been awhile since I've gotten a spill involving silver. That barber is in Great shape.

Congrats. That quarter really is nice. Great detail.

Good hunt. Do you ever hunt Leakin Park? I found a 1866 IH there.

That quarter is absolutely beautiful. Congrats. I like the marble too.

Best of luck to you sir.

Thanks Tom! The day I found I kept picking it up to check it out.
