I was able to get out and do some scratching yesterday.Along with a small pile of pottery.I found a couple stone pieces. The rough one is a type of celt or daze. This other piece is anybody's guess. Its a very smooth and uniform in shape. It measures 4 3\4" long 1 1\2""wide and a 1\2 thick. It has turned very black from handling it.I'm not sure of rock type. Its definitely a something. I've never found one in 5yrs of digging this site.Any ideas.

I would need a good clear dry pic of the stones to know if either one are something. The real smooth one has the shape of a pestle but wont know until I see a dry pic.

Nice pestle.
I don't need any other photos.
Nice finds all of them.

Hmm, I can see everything but pestle. Looks like a very nice smooth rock for sure, and surely could have had a used for something since found on a known site. But I don't see anything indicating worked by man into specific tool. Just my ho.

Heres my first found artifact. A pestle.

Thanks rack .Yes I have a pestle also. This is more on the lines of a sharpening stone or something. Not bell shaped round or flat on either ends.

Just a thought... a roller pestle was used horizontal and "rolled" across the material.
It wasn't used on end.

Sorry my first pics didn't show enough. There just ain't no rolling this. She's flat.

Well I can't argue with that.Just when I think of pestle my piece don't come to mind.It seems to lite and almost to uniform. Thanks for your input gatorboy..

Well after looking at the new pics I will have to say river rock. Next time post more than one side.

Hey rock not gonna argue about it being river rock.I totally agree. But it had a use.Everything I find is usually about the same. This is the first piece I've ever found like it.Its guilty by association.......

This is what I mean by guilty by association. These are from the same site .
