Tear out is coming to a close. Decided to check out some of the piles that the crew has flattened out in anticipation of planting grass. Got another soda can signal in one of the flattened piles and started cursing the crew under my breath. The crew has been very gracious and has allowed us to detect around the periphery while they work. Knowing that we detectorists are out there, I think some of the crew get a kick out of throwing their soda cans into the dirt just so we can dig them up:laughing7:.
Well I noticed a black cat staring at me as I went to withdraw another can from the dirt. Cat was even more curious when she saw this old man fall over. I couldn't believe what was lying there in front of me.

Sorry she's still a little dirty. Just want to be real careful cleaning her up.

Finds for the 13th, with a black cat watching...

That one looks like someone made a withdrawal from the bank and immediately went over and buried it. :)

Congrats!

No. I'm in the Southwest quadrant of the lower peninsula.

Ah gotcha. I think a lot of guys are having good luck on the east side right now as well. Great coin, I hope you get an older one tomorrow !

That looks fantastic. 150+ years old and looks better than most of the coins I have in my pocket right now.

Awesome, freakin' incredibly beautiful find.

Congratulations. I probably would have fallen over myself.
She's a real, true beauty.

Awesome Quarter! If I could just find some silver or something instead of clad...argh!!!

This is what she looks like after a quick rinse. I think I'm just going to leave it this way. Does show some of the usual light surface scratches that are seen on coins that have been in dirt that "gets moved around". Small gash on the side too. But it is dark in color, so I'm pretty sure I did not hit it with the digger (THIS TIME :laughing7:). Still pretty decent luster. Over all very appealing detail.

I don't think find's like that would be as special if it wasn't for trash. I've been detecting for about a month now and haven't found a silver or gold anything yet, but have dug the crap out of some trash. It's gonna make my first decent find that much more enjoyable. GREAT find! God bless

Yep you scored a beauty! The thirteenth, a black cat and near heart failure couldn't stop you!
Right from the mint and into the dirt! Some kind of super luck!

Anybody who has a chance to search a tear out, go! go! go! Get out there and search!
They fenced off and posted "no trespassing" at our city hall when they dug up around it including the original cobble stone street underneath....sigh, :sadsmiley: :BangHead:
