I live right next to a college that has a swapmeet in its parking lot every Saturday and Sunday, and today I picked up a pretty interesting item to say the least.
It is a 1949 High School Yearbook from the Central High School of Cape Girardeau, Missouri exactly like this one: 1949 Central High School Yearbook Cape Girardeau Missouri The Girardot | eBay
Paid $10 (I think i overpaid a little, but I was just too curious about it), and it'll probably be pretty hard to sell, but it's pretty cool nonetheless. It even has a name in it (and the owner even circled herself in her class picture), so it really feels like a piece of history.

Cool. I found a yearbook once that had a bunch of kids I went to grade school with, I moved in 5th grade it was of them in 7th grade. It was a incredible blast from the past. Paid 1.00 still have it.

Nice buy (lay it on your coffee table - great conversation piece) omga747. Thanks for sharing...

Funny you should mention 1949 yearbooks. On ebay, I just bought a 1949 Purdue yearbook. There's a picture of their airplane modeling club. All the guys are wearing suits except for one dweeb that showed up in more casual clothes, and also sporting a goofy grin.

That dweeb was the first man to set foot on the Moon.

That is very cool...there was actually a time i was buying Year books from the 20's and 30s on Ebay for about 15 bucks a pop...I just love looking at the picture and old ads....and the last one i bought was cool because it had alot of Signtures and notes to the owner of the book....I like looking back into the past and thinking about how nice it must have been when people had respect for each other.

I dont think you over paid at all..i would have scooped it up in heartbeat...Great find!

I buy yearbooks too. Recently got one from 1942, right before we got into WWII. Looking at it, I wondered how many of the guys got killed in the war.

do you mane the 1941-42 school year? because we got into the war with Japan on Dec 8, 1941

I was in Pearl Harbor five days ago and visited the Arizona.

I used to buy all the hs yearbooks I could find for $1, but I was finding too many of them, lol. Now I usually only buy the more recent yearbooks, 1970's and up. I've found that they sell a little quicker. Any military yearbook goes without saying. I wish I could find a copy of my own hs yearbook for less than the $50 they want for it on ebay.
