Looks to be a Sabre and not a Sword due to it's weight and size . And either a decorative piece for display or to be worn by a member of some organization for one of their higher ranked officers . IMHO , Woodstock

Well - it's awesome looking for one thing. Is the blade steel or another metal (looks almost like copper / brass in some of the photos). Rapier style handle. In my opinion, it looks like a weapon - specifically, a pre 1900 rapier -- but that's based on what I've seen in museums and at medieval fairs -- not experience with antique arms. When I get a minute I'm going to google antique rapier and see if i can find a similar one.

We need you to find any manufacturer markings and or personal engravings if there are any on the piece to help have a good chance to ID it if possible.

It looks like a Toledo "Salamanca" type rapier. Look closely at the blade for the word "Toledo" engraved or stamped somewhere. My thought is that it is likely made in the last 50 years or so.

Edit: A lot of swords are being made in India these days, and yours could have come from there too. Is the blade actually engraved? The design looks painted on in the photos.

Looks like a modern reproduction. If the pommel and grip can can be unscrewed, that's a clue.
