These are finds from two hunts (today and one earlier in the week) The 1st hunt this week I stopped at the site where the poesy ring and 1699 cob came from. Today's hunt was at a new lot that didn't turn up a whole lot. Either way, I'm happy to have the rare 1-piece Marines button(even toasted like it is :laughing9:) and Civil War Connecticut state button. Here's a 1-pc Marines that sold for $475 in good condition

Congrats on the 1 pc. Marines Jeff! Take em however you can get em!! I found my Connecticut button in Fredericksburg about 10 yrs. ago. Nice group shots!!!

Went out for one last hurrah today before my knee surgery on Monday. Got a 1858 quarter that someone chopped in half?

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!!!!!
Larry

Thanks! :icon_thumleft: Fredericksburg is a little more than just around the block for you.. hunting trip? Good luck with the surgery and rest as much as you can! Weird quarter, but half cents were still circulated then right? I'm assuming the .5 in 12.5 cents was worth something. Happy Thanksgiving!

wow nice stuff man.i been on a button roll too. plain ole flatties, not even worth postin.like 20 in the last 3 hunts :icon_scratch:

hey thanks James :icon_thumleft: they're out there, happy thanksgiving!

Awsome finds, what I have never understood is why buttons like the Confederate A or script A are worth a lot more money, when in reality they made thousands more than the USMC buttons. Before the Civil War, there were less than 300 Marines total (the era of your button). To find one is totaly amazing.

Congrats on finding a rare one piece Marine button Jeff! I don't have my button books handy - what is the gilted eagle button with the NHS on it? It looks like there is another letter before the N, but I can't make it out.

Thanks, I agree that monetarily, these are extremely undervalued.

Here's the only Civil War era marines button I've found that wasn't wrecked

Sweet looking site, Jeff, and awesome marine button! :headbang: Keep it up, man!

:hello:

It's quite difficult for me to comment on the Marines button :-\ not knowing much about there importance, but what I do know is that you, and Josh continually pull out the good stuff over there :notworthy: you do the research and take the dividends from them :headbang:

If I were to come to the US, you two guys are the one's I would like to hunt with :notworthy: :headbang:

I'm going to tell you something,
I was just up in PA. this week. The finds you guys find consistently are just amazing. The sites you get on to, the trust you have gained is fantastic. It's tough up there, and to find those types of relics consistently is amazing. Places have just been pounded to death and trust between detectorist and landowner is grim. Congrats :icon_thumleft:

Nice Button ..... congrats !
