Old colonial site find

Hunt here in southern Maryland lots of buttons,buckles,some Indian head pennies early 1900 wheats,religious pendant,old lock and key.this was 2differnt site.all the coins came from a different site we’re I found the lock

Thanks all. No the key doesn't fit the lock.I was hoping it was the key for it.I think i could get the lock to work it still moves.Anyone no were i could get a key made for it. My wife put an app on my phone to track me in the woods.I walked 8 miles sat.Not much time to get cold.temps weren't to bad highs in the 40's.I would really like to get the lock working so if anyone knows how or were i could get a key send me a link thanks

The good part is this site is so remote there wasnt much trash other then a few shot gun shells here and there

On my brass type locks i use white vinegar and it seems to do a nice job cleaning. the ones i find made out of steel usually are in pretty tough shape !

I've seen a key like that before, perhaps for a desk,cabinet or grandfather clock case. Looks like a nice, old site.

pepperj no not that she doesnt think im detecting so she can find me if i get hurt fall down a well or something so she can come get the treasure i found that day
