I've been researching and old church grounds that dates back to 1876, where the Township Reunions where held every other year for 13 days straight with camping, plays, games, and alot of other actitvities. Well after a month or so of research and some time off, finally! from work. I decided to head for the area and see if I can locate its exact location. With alot of help from the land owner I managed to find the exact spot as there is nothing left at all to let you know that anything at all was ever there. The farmer was a little hesitant at first about giving me permission as his cattle graze in the area and he didn't want any of the new born calves spooked and run into a fence. Luck had it that he was feeding the cattle and said I could hunt for about an hour and a half while the cattle were with him. I spent the first 45-mins or so checking out a Beautiful pasture I though my be a hot spot but unfortunately, I was wrong. I started working my way back to the general area where the church once stood and started finding the general 22 cal. shells as well as old shotgun brass. Then as I moved up on a flat just above where the church stood
I got a Solid signal that bounced the number just a little around 59-62. Down about 5 inches was my first Indian Head Penny this year. About 3-feet to the southeast of the indian head the F75 pick up my first silver for the year also, a 1905 Barber Dime in decent shape. Before I was having to leave I picked up two more I.H. pennys a 1910 wheatback, a Buffalo nickel and a Gold Item that I have no idea what it is...The photo below show the area I hunted. The tree to the right closest to the camera with the Vine attached to it was where the Barber Dime was found the rest of the coins and the Gold Item were all found on the flat ground ground area thats about 30 or so feet in diameter.Hopefully my next trip will prove even more fruitfull. Ya gotta love this Hobby...I know I do!

Now that was a very good day. :)

Love the coins. I'm hoping for an IH some day.....

Keep digging.

GREAT research and awesome finds! Ya know...might be... if you share a few of your finds with the owner, he may be a bit more willing to let ya stay a little longer next time! ;D OR...if he's like most of the folks around here and not interested in the finds, you could bring a nice pie to thank him for letting you hunt the property. :)

Congrats on those finds! Nana :)

Nana, The Mississippi River is My neighbor so I think I will take the land owner some Catfish,
I'm not much of a Baker..LOL I also plan on constructing a display of some sort to hold all my finds
and hunt down a Photo of the church and have it for a Historical Display for the Sanora Homecommers.

Great sloothing! You can be pretty sure that you've got yourself a virgin spot there! I would hunt it until the cows come home! (sorry bout that :-\).
