Re: OLD BENTWOOD BOX'S MARK THE LOST SPANISH MOUND

I would say forget the head shaking and just get away. Far, far, away.

Plebah,

I think he is somewhere in the Northwest in Canada. I don't think they have State offices like we do.

Re: OLD BENTWOOD BOX'S MARK THE LOST SPANISH MOUND

the reason the rcmp came to see what i found is because, i have been waiting for the herritage branch for 20 years.  the profecionals    curent belief is the bodies where tossed into the caves diring the small pox epidemic.
http://www.sfu.ca/archaeology/dept/fac_bio/mcmillan/index1.htm
the problem with this is , its just heads tossed in the caves. one cave was looked into when the tide started to wash the bones out to sea. the elders went to the cave and said , they are not indian, the bones where tossed further in the cave.

plehbah, do you realy think meteal detecting is imoral?

Re: OLD BENTWOOD BOX'S MARK THE LOST SPANISH MOUND

As for grave robbing, i would never go near a marked grave and yes graves should be left , not handed over for disposal. which is happening.
"You have an obligation to either leave them alone, or to keep trying to get people interested. You do not have a right to continue to destroy them."

What i did was called discovery i found something hidden and after i discover it was a victim, i do just what you Say , i leave it and try get attention.
when i first found the star i phoned the heritage branch, his reaction was "don't tell me" my reaction , "I'm sending you the pictures any way."
i do not continue to destroy anything.
any way , i don't want to get this shut down so lets keep it civil.

i would like to share this pm As , this is most likely what happened.

"The standard pattern in the early days of settlement of the west in our country and yours was that the Indians tried to get along usually. Once they were compelled to attack military or civilians or when their young men attacked military or civilians they would hide the bodies and anything on them and move away so that there could not be reprisals against their people. Some tribes also had taboos against living near a battlefield or sometimes even visiting one. Interesting story good luck."

this relay explains a lot.

you say
"Try another local university. Someone will be interested, I can assure you. If they are not, then it is because they decided to leave the graves as is, and to let nature take her intended course. "

In Canada , nature's resources out weigh the heritage value and its frowned on for universities to get involved.

if these solderes are American or British . then my obligation should be in reporting them to the gov, country who commanded them.

Re: OLD BENTWOOD BOX'S MARK THE LOST SPANISH MOUND

I cant believe I actually read through all that! All I can say is that if nobody believes you it might take breaking the law and digging up some of this stuff to protect it in the end.
People dig stuff up every day and unknowingly make a significant discovery, OF COURSE THEY DO NOT KNOW UNTIL THEY DIG IT UP!!!
On top of that it seems like you live out in the boonies. You got caves with bones in them that nobody else has discovered and so on. Like anyone is going to know you are digging around in these caves, furthermore if they did know they probably would even care!

Get some balls and go dig up some relics that you can positively date.

Re: OLD BENTWOOD BOX'S MARK THE LOST SPANISH MOUND

I think this post is being taken WAY too seriously. How quickly the prior posts by the poster are forgotten.

Nice post to play with. Not so nice a post to get involved with.

Re: OLD BENTWOOD BOX'S MARK THE LOST SPANISH MOUND

sorry bout this guys, i do not dig in caves and i want to assure you and any one else , the burials in the caves are as i first saw them. un touched.
I am used to being  lambasted by archaeologists, and every one else.
I have been hearing this for 20 years.
"Your analyses are flawed, and you are failing to see the truth that the artifacts are revealing. In short, you are behaving like a looter, and not a seeker of treasure."
You are allowed to treasure hunt , I live in canada and I am not , frouned on by gov,, natives and industry..
I find one cave in 2004 and am grabbed by the throught , told there is a 20 grand hit  on me.
if you where in my shoes, you know where there is a treasure but you have to leave it for looters, what you do.
canadain laws state , a boat that has been abandoned is a herritage ship after 2 years, removeal or digging for bobects is against the law.
leave them to the looters.

Re: OLD BENTWOOD BOX'S MARK THE LOST SPANISH MOUND

Whatever Plehblah....... Never told the guy to go digging in bones, just to metal detect the area.
If you dont want anybody digging where people are buried then you should just give up metal detecting and go back to collecting care bears! Where I live there are people buried every where and I hear all the time about road and building construction revealing bodies from long ago.
People are buried every where in unmarked graves, so if you were worried about metal detecting around dead people then where are you going to detect. His story is a little different because the people are in boxes above ground. So you see a box with bones in it just go to a different cave and detect. Whats wrong with that?
Who would live in a igloo made out of pee anyway? Are you some kind of knob jockey?
Well, good luck this spring. When it warms up I hope your pee house does not melt and get your care bear collection all wet and stinky!

One love!

Re: OLD BENTWOOD BOX'S MARK THE LOST SPANISH MOUND

so have we made any head way with this open ended conundrum posting

Re: OLD BENTWOOD BOX'S MARK THE LOST SPANISH MOUND

Re: OLD BENTWOOD BOX'S MARK THE LOST SPANISH MOUND

Yes. Relax. Don't confuse written Internetese with facts or actions. I fell into that trap several years ago. I think it was Elvis and Hessian treasure at that time. ;) Pipe dreams have every right to exist as do leprechauns and fairys. Enjoy the commentary and take it for what it's worth (which is what you paid to view it).

Re: OLD BENTWOOD BOX'S MARK THE LOST SPANISH MOUND

Dismissed? School hasn't even started yet. First of all, the way I speak depends on who it is I am talking to. In this instance you. So, if you thought of my post as nothing more than middle school brat ranting then why did you respond? And what a response by the way. Must have taken you day and night with dictionary in hand to complete those two little paragraphs.
Thats the wonderful thing about the internet and posting; you can pretend to be whoever you want. Right Phlembla?

You have to remember why this posting is taking place. You accused Hmmm of grave robbing and disturbing Native American burials when he plainly stated that he just left them there.
I don't know if I believe him, but if I did thats my right. 100% not your job to decide who's duping who and who's stories are real or not. As far as calling me a dope (if that was your intention), I think the name would befit you and your new hangover picture better.

Man - :P

I posted a few times at the beginning of this topic when all you asked about were some boxes... now it's grown into this?

I figured I would reeducate myself on this whole thing since it seemed to be getting very interesting... and I just read everything all over again. I'm anxiously awaiting the secret code for the term "dem boards" which I PM'd for as directed. 8) Good thing I still have a clearance... :)

Hmmm... can you reply to a few things for me? :-\

Q. Have you been to these places yourself or has this been all research?

Q. Have YOU taken any of the pictures you've posted or linked to or are they someone else's work?

Q. Who currently owns or controls the lands that hold these locations (BC? Canada? Private?)

Q. Primarily what if anything is the MAJOR significance of these finds that seem to have been accessed and pillaged long ago? Will history be rewritten or something?

Q. Why did you not just tell the whole story instead of unfolding this long drawn-out and hard to follow post over a period of months while linking to other topics and sites and not replying to questions when asked?

Q. Is there not a single owner of the property who can allow access and allow you to remove items for any reason?

I still seem to be the only one completely lost and bewildered... For those of you that followed and understood this topic please accept my apologies... maybe I'm backtracking too much.
Hmmm
I have to wonder this my self
if I found that spot you can bet you rump im going in with a detector i dont care who likes it.
second off i would not touch the bones out of respect but who is to say they werrenyt sho or killed and who is to say they wanted to die in a cave like that.
this is clearly not a indian spot.
id be finding and removing every ertifact i could find then reasdearch each piece and try to date it.
thats how you will truely know where it all came from.
HOWEVER i would clearly grid the erea and document every item photo it befor it is removed and what angle each item was in when it is found so that if need be it an be returned.
that is very very important.
THOSE BONES ARRENT INDIAN

you would have found indian stuff there
you once told me you were to scared in an email and thought the indians would kill you.....
And I say
if they wanted you dead because of that find you would already be gone.
seems to me no one cares about this so called find so if it were me i would have at it..
I dont care what anyone says.

Oh yea... and another thing I'm reminded of after reading IMA's last post... Either I missed or missunderstood why you will not or can not take any archies in there to get through the ruins...

I agree with Plehbah, that it seems the exact type a place an amature hack like me backs off and kinda lets the "pro"s take care of business in an "official" manner, maybe with me right there assisting or whatever.

I know a few folks here have advocated taking what you can but I'm still unclear if it's legal for you to do so...

Cripes, Maybe I should reread it all again... I must be missing too much.

He's asked the Archies for several years to look at what he has found & they never came. In the meantime its been looted by others.
