I see the top pic does have the beading in it.

judging from the tool marks. the zigzag marks are from a smoothing plane, but the 5 beads were done by hand with a beading plane.
most likely wooden bead plane, it doesn't date the box except for making it older than 100 years I would guess.

those planes were used for centuries,

the use of all wood fastening does suggest dynamite, metal equals sparks.

the use of wooden pins was most common in the 18th to early 19th century

Be very careful with old dynamite boxes, the nitro can soak into the wood. It causes the box to be as dangerous as the dynamite.

Sorry Hmmm, Bad joke. I have no clue about the boxes origin. There must have been thousands of them (makers that is). I don't think your ever know who made it. You may be able to date it/find out which country but thats about it.

So let me understand this you have found some very old boxes that look as though they may have come from a ship and one of them is deep in a cave. Well I would be doing a fair bit of detecting around there, could be anything that they have transported to that location. Loot Maybe!!! Have a good hunt around and

SASNZ, I did find a anchor button that was id as 1810 ish and there is a musket behind one, so old it has deteriorated, best left as is. there is other metal but by law, it sits where it is, if its older then 1846. the plot thickens, well i am off for 2 weeks following elk in the rockies mountains, maybe find a nugget if i am lucky. I think the post where the anchor is, is "viking artifact" here is another box.
behind the box is [dem boards] and the head of dem boards is missing.

When something is created by a culture and left behind the next culture tends to copy it.
I uncovered the mystry of the boxes. first let me show all items in one  of the pictures above.  there is a button   a dagger and some rope sitting under the box. i eventualy saw what looked like a round bullet stiking from the side of  the box. i had to clean it off, i did , its a blue bead.
In the boxnbead1 picture,  you can see the white dot on the left side of the box, the dagger is sticking out from below it, with the clean bead in place , it shines from the light in the back entrance. very erie i guess. could point to a viking hord, I did find a peice of silver, very silimar to the viking silver hord just found.

Mystery solved, the boxes are not old native indian  bentwood boxes, .
on the right side of the box, is a head and a realy old head is behind the box.

This peice is silver and looks very much viking.
it is well known that these indians had red hair on first contact. this can only happen if they mixes with , say the vikings, so its a good chance they re buried vikings .
the way canada handles human remains has got to change, any one know a good lawer, i have a good case here.?

I have said this before, it doesn't look Norse to me. Viking means to go out & raid. No such people as the Vikings, not to say that it hasn't been used as a popular term. I study Anglo-Sandinavian artefacts. That is items in Britain, either bought over by the Sandinavians or produced over here by the settled people. This item in my opinion is Late Georgian probably 1790s & not in keeping with the 'Viking' art.

thanks for that crusader, I think you are right ,  a 18th century bracelet it could be",  the Haida boxes could be king George' s men . but then, it could be Indians to, It does not take a rocket scientist to make a box, if you can make the wheel you can make a box..    i found this badge close buy, actually it has some of dem boards in the ground and the head board, had a bullet hole in it.
you can make out king geor--- on the left side of the badge, i am going to say the stuff dates to king George the third.

Looks Like King George not sure which one, but I can see a ladies next to him. Its probably something to do with the Marriage. Celebration type object, is it a badge or a fob for a watch? Unusual shape.
