Had a club hunt yesterday with about 25 members on a property that was supposed to be virgin ground and dating back to 1900. My nephew and I are swinging away and not finding much at all till my ATP screamed and showed a 92, hmmm what could this be. Dug up an item that baffled me and I showed it around. Everyone that saw this thing had their ideas but the main one was a laser pointer..it was little bigger than a nickel in diameter and couple inches long, purple with weird markings on it and had an obvious screw cap and on each end was a hole. I couldnt remove the cap at first and as I showed it to Born2detect who's in my club I was able to unscrew the cap...oh wow inside was not batteries as expected but a good amount of weed, people I unearthed a well disguised pipe.

We had people pulling up large cents, half cents, half reals, standing liberty quarters, V nickels and what do I get---but a case of chronic literally. I dumped out the crap and soaked it for a few hours, it will make for an interesting piece to vote on at the next club meeting.

Any find is an interesting find to me personally. It's a funny conversation piece. To get it completely clean soak it in alcohol and salt. It breaks up everything including the resin that I'm sure is in there. I won't try to lie like some of these guys...this is how I've cleaned my pipes in the past.
Hahaha, told ya so! :laughing7:
Alcohol and Epsom salts, will clean the dirtiest of ashtrays, pipes. bongs, resin, etc.....
I didn't lie, I just didn't reveal how I know! 8-) I actually read the "keep your mouth shut" thread! :laughing7:

why oh why didn't I take that brick home that washed ashore that morning! :BangHead:
instead I have the lifeguard captain come and get it, he poked his knife in it, came out all white powder.
I wouldn't have a clue as to how to get rid of mess like that, plus, the cops will set ppl up down here, or used to.
You approach "floatsom" and retrieve it, they arrest you!

Do be careful, don't get resin on you, you may end up like this cat.

Haha...I didn't mean it as harsh as that sounded. More along the lines of "let's all be honest with ourselves". We should start a new thread where instead of returning rings we return pipes to their owners! Hahaha

For some strange reason I thought of spiritrelic after watching that,my eyes hurt!

reminds me of this time I overheard two guys at a flea market talking about some old (turn of the century) - bottles they had found (at an old college ...if I recall) and one had "cannabis seeds" on a very old label...and they were all concerned about it....which I found very amusing.....aside from "just dumping it out"......made me realize a few people still lump pot in with things like meth or crack in their minds....I guess it depends on how scary the laws are in your part of the country (just a ticket here in Massachusetts...not that I smoke very often.....)- of course.....what really scares me about drugs is all the people with unsecured...highly addictive opioid pain-killers in their medicine cabinet....talk about something to worry about with a kid in the house....those will totally destroy someone's life....

No joke about the prescriptions, with my stage 4 Lyme disease I have to use some serious painkillers and I worry about how my youngest views it. She's 14 and for majority of her life I've been on them, I hate it but not much I can do but educate her and have faith that God will keep her safe. I know she won't do anything with this stupid pipe I've found, she joked about keeping it till I shoved it under her nose and let her smell the rank odor, she changed her tune quick. Thanks for the input on cleaning it, I'll try the alcohol and salts to clean it.

Get your facts first, then distort them as you please-Mark Twain

Soak it in lemon juice for 2 days.

I found a huge glass bowl (multi-colored) when detecting a dried lake bed. It was in awesome shape and gave it to some guy walking by who thought it was awesome. After I gave it to him he told me it was worth around $30. Go figure. He'll get way more use out of than it just sitting with my other finds.

Boil it. And do t worry about a ticket. Once you have removed all the junk it is now a tabaco holder. How to you think they sell those things legally??

Can't help ya with the smell, but that's still an awesome find! I sort of doubt that it's from the 1900's, though. ;)
