i think the fed needs to start melting some of these down.i'm tired of going through box after box of these and finding nothing!!i mean if i could find a commemorative or one from the 1800's once in a while it would make life worth living for.you know what i mean?nobody even wants to use them in circulation anyways.a lot of these the edges are so worn the machine wont even take them.i think the half dollar needs a new image.any thoughts for a boring winter day?

With out Washington we would have lost the American Revolution.

Washington was the one necessary person, his strong sense of patriotic duty to country his resolve, and ability was the backbone of the Revolution, he kept the revolution from collapsing, the soldiers loved him.

Washington inspired the soldiers and they fought for him the same Way Robert E. Lee inspired his troops and they fought for him and were willing to continue to fight for him even though the war was lost.....

American by birth, Patriot by choice.

I would rather die standing on my two feet defending our Constitution than live a lifetime on my knees......

I said he was good for morale (which is very useful) . I said he was not the best leader or tactician. Look at all his campaigns and battles and the remotest thing to success is the crossing of the Delaware. The revolutionary war, in the early stages and under Washington command was so bad that there was a widespread sentiment to make ammends with Britian, Vermont tried to enter back into the Britian during 78 I think (Last thing I read was a David Mcolough book a while back, so my US history is rusty to say the least BUT, so if I'm wrong about the state correct me).

Theres a reason you stop seeing washington's command of battles AFTER 77-78, whenever H.Gates assumes alot of the continental armies command functions and Nathanael Greene takes over in the south. Greene and gates were brilliant alongside others.

Also-do not forget that Washington saved us from simply switching from one monarchy to another. He was offered the position of king of the U.S. and turned it down. How many of our so-called public servants of today would do the same?

Incorrect. This is a myth.

Did George Washington Turn Down An Offer To Be A King? The Story Behind the Myth

What he actually did was decline serving a third term which set a precedent to decline serving more than two terms and it was followed up till FDR.

I'm pretty sure they wouldn't put a Canadian (Beiber) on U.S. currency.
Barf!

Also Bill Gates gave us the viral operating system ................ He had to be kidding.

Lots of informed opinion on the other side of the argument, 'Fiddy. One way for historians to get their name out there is to try to "debunk" what has been accepted as common knowledge or consensus up until that point, but in my humble opinion most historical "myths" must indeed be based on fact. Admittedly, over time those facts can get a little muddy, but the nature of all history is revisionist; there's just no way to tell a story without some bias, conscious or unconscious, seeping in.

I come to Treasurenet for metal detecting, coin roll hunting, and related categories. I'm tired of the people who find it necessary to turn just about everything political.

:coffee2: I feel the same way. During my army career; I served with many officers & they broke down into 2 categories: those you respected & those you didn't. The ones you respected you worked gladly for. The ones you didn't you endured. The saying was if you couldn't respect the person, you respected the rank (office). If you don't like the occupant of a public office, still respect the office that is held. We all have the final say at the polls. That's my 2 cents on the subject. As far as crh today, I got a 1/64 & 1/67 out of a box. That was nice as pickings have been very slim recently.

It will happen soon enough. Your grandkids will live on Obama Blvd., go to Obama Elementary School, spend Obama halves to buy Obama postage stamps and have a day off every year for Obama's Birthday. Count on it! Oh, and I forgot all the Obama Public Libraries.....
History will right it and that man will only be associated with the likes of crooks. It may not be in the generation though. Ronald Regan said" The generation that looses freedom will not see it again in their lifetime......That's us people

Say's a lot about a man who can respect a person despite disagreeing with their politics. Very classy. We need more of that in here.

Me thinks that if the government really wants the dollar coins to circulate, the design should be drastically changed.....you know, to fit the times.:laughing7:

We gonna get us a possee together and extradite beiber to a country that will finally put him down or in jail where he belongs. He's ruining music. It don't get more political than this.

You know..... just because you don't like his music, doesn't mean you have to speak so disrespectfully of him. LOL who am I kidding!

I'm all for Obama being on the half. Can anyone guess why? Think about it.

Ok, I thought about it. Could it be.....maybe.....possibly.....kinda.....because:

1. You rarely ever see one in circulation, or....

2. The coin will probably be discontinued relatively soon? Hmmm?

Joe, I think you know.
It's more than music.
It'll make ya tic
Beiber is da world's foe
He's pretty darn low.

For real, if all he did was sing, he got a right to sing. he ain't got no right to go round being a punk, causing trouble and worse making america less manly.

I have to Disagree. in spite of the fact I have no pity or interest in Beiber.
as a Kid, he has as much right to be a scofflaw as every other Kid (& adult for that matter) out there. he isn't running around committing murders, & hiding behind a badge.

as for "making america less manly" ? that is a laughable comment that I got to wonder if that's some type of political comment :icon_scratch: that said... Huh ? :icon_scratch:
he isn't a law maker :icon_scratch:
