Not having good luck with my Garrett carrot

I do the same thing, and wouldnt ya know, it didnt beep when i walked away from it and left it at a site, never to be seen again...:BangHead:

Yep....waiting on my next one in the mail...should be delivered between 2-1 and 2-7.....hurry up!!!! lol

The "Carrot" is supposed to be water-proof, so take out old battery, put in new, and SNUG the battery cap, down - then turn it on.
It can be reason to doubt the pointer, if not ("-proofed") from use in high humidity environment - so, it might be corrosion of the Contacts to the battery. ..???
Not enough pressure on the battery...????

You know what you might be right. I’m gonna try that.

Be sure to crank it REAL Snug...!
I'm not sure what kind of thing puts pressure on the battery contacts, in the Carrot,
but my two old black Garretts had a piece of sponge rubber on the cap,
that gets dis-lodged, during the screwing-down process - check that too.

I have two half working carrots and a black old one with destroyed switch. Always good to wear them out n send them in while they r under warranty lol.

after walking away from mine a few times i put a lanyard on it and attached it to the bucket i carry for trash, I'm too absent minded to remember it 100% of the time :laughing7:

I’ve owned the Black Garrett for about 3 years. It freaks out every so often even with a new battery. I have a New Garrett carrot I’ve used 3 times. I’m saving it for a back up. I know you all use different pin pointers. So In you all’s opinion what’s the best one that will hold up longer. I’ve been looking at the fisher seems to be a good one.

My go-to, a Deteknix X-pointer, is five yrs old and still going strong. Have a Carrot for back-up and a Nokta for a loaner.

I have a lanyard on mine now too. I lost my black one at a club dig, on the sand, next to salt water. Three weeks later the club goes back and someone finds it and gives it to me. Had to send it to Garrett and they fixed and shipped it back for $50. If I remember correctly. I still have it.

Was thinking about getting one but my pro pointer still works just fine. Any issues I've had were battery-related.

I noticed something recently after using bluetooth headphones with my Equinox 600 and then switching back to wired headphones.

When you turn the carrot on, make sure you are not close to the headphone wire.

I had great consistency in my pinpointer with the bluetooth, but with the wired headphones, I was having to reset the thing constantly and I finally figured out it was because I was turning it on too close to the wire and it was throwing off the ground balance.

Might be a metal detecting 101 rule, but I had never though of it until I switched back for a day.

Alot of people dont read the manual on all the settings and how to balance and if you put it in the hole by the target turn it off then back on it will pin point more accurate they can be tricky if you get it out of adjustment

NOKTA. Im not brand loyal, but I can say that Ive hammered mine. It comes with two protective sheaths (wore a hole in one so far) and has been pretty bullet proof. Has LED, sound/no sound/ vibrate (my favourite because its quiet) waterproof to 1 meter.... etc. 5 years old this year

This may have already Been said Here.

Open the Battery Compartment.

There is a Cushion Here

it May be Flattened or Gone causing your Battery to be Loose.

Stick a Couple Quarters, a Dollar Coin or Better a Thick Rubber Washer in there
to hold your Battery Tighter.

See if that Helps
