2. Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood by The Animals

3. Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin

Excellent Songs! There's no way I can pick just 3 LOL!

Forgot about the Animals. I'd have to say the long version of "Sky Pilot", and "We've Got to Get Out of this Place" are my fav's by them.

Re: Nostalgia Time! What's your 3 Fave Songs?

If I included anything from 1950's-60's rock, even the short list would crash the server!

So, let's just go with "Dixie."

"Uncle Sam's got into a terrible sham, why down there in Viet Nam" and

"Be the First one on your block, to have your Boy come home in a box"

are the 2 lines of the song that comes into my head.

Re: Nostalgia Time! What's your 3 Fave Songs?

I'll leave out the Gimme an # Cheer ;)

Come on all of you big strong men,

Uncle Sam needs your help again.

He's got himself in a terrible jam

Way down yonder in Vietnam

So put down your books and pick up a gun,

We're gonna have a whole lotta fun.

Chorus:

And it's one, two, three,

What are we fighting for?

Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,

Next stop is Vietnam;

And it's five, six, seven,

Open up the pearly gates,

Well there ain't no time to wonder why,

Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

Come on generals, let's move fast;

Your big chance has come at last.

Gotta go out and get those reds —

The only good commie is the one that's dead

You know that peace can only be won

When we've blown 'em all to kingdom come.

[Chorus]

Come on Wall Street, don't move slow,

Why man, this is war au-go-go.

There's plenty good money to be made
Supplying the Army with the tools of the trade,

Just hope and pray that if they drop the bomb,

They drop it on the Viet Cong.

[Chorus]

Come on mothers throughout the land,

Pack your boys off to Vietnam.

Come on fathers, don't hesitate,

Send your sons off before it's too late.

You can be the first one on your block

To have your boy come home in a box.

Saw Country Joe and the Fish at Newport Pop Festival. Along with Hot Tuna, and even with Tinny Tim. What a trip, litterally. But where is the mantra to beginning of the song?

"GIVE ME A F, GIVE A @, GIVE A &, GIVE ME A *!!!

LOL!!
Paul, I also got to see them at the Miami Pop Festival, along with Hendrix, The Mothers, Strawberry Alarm Clock, The Turtles, Steppenwolf, Crazy World of Arthur Brown, and so many more. Great 3 day festival, and only $5 a day!!!

Re: Nostalgia Time! What's your 3 Fave Songs?

The two songs that I can remember listening to over and over were Cover of the Rolling Stones and Old Time Rock and Roll. But I did love Dr Hook and Meatloaf!

COVER OF THE ROLLING STONES
Well we are big rock singers
we've got golden fingers
and we're loved everywhere we go,
we sing about beauty and we sing about thruth
at ten thousand dollars a show;
we take all kind of pills
to give us all kind of thrills,
but the thrill we've never known,
is the thrill that'll get you
when you get your picture
on the cover of the Rolling Stone

Rolling Stone -
wanna see my picture on the cover
wanna buy five copies for my mother
wanna see my smilin' face
on the cover of the Rolling Stone

I've got a freaky lady
name o' Cocaine Katy
who embroiders on my jeans,
I've got my poor old gray-haired Daddy,
drivin' my limousine
Now it's all designed
to blow our minds
but our minds won't really be blown,
like the blow that'll get you
when you get your picture
on the cover of the Rolling Stone

We got a lot of
little blue-eyed, teenage groupies
who do anything we say,
we got a genuine Indian guru,
who's teachin' us a better way,
we got all the friends
that money can buy,
so we never have to be alone,
and we keep gettin' richer
but we can't get our picture
on the cover of the Rolling Stone

OLD TIME ROCK AND ROLL
Just take those old records off the shelf
I'll sit and listen to 'em by myself
Today's music ain't got the same soul
I like that old time rock 'n' roll

Don't try to take me to a disco
You'll never even get me out on the floor
In ten minutes I'll be late for the door
I like that old time rock 'n' roll

Still like that old time rock 'n' roll
That kind of music just soothes the soul
I reminisce about the days of old
With that old time rock 'n' roll

Won't go to hear them play a tango
I'd rather hear some blues or funky soul
There's only one sure way to get me to go
Start playing old time rock 'n' roll

Still like that old time rock 'n' roll
That kind of music just soothes the soul
I reminisce about the days of old
With that old time rock 'n' roll

Call me a relic, call me what you will
Say I'm old-fashioned, say I'm over the hill
Today's music ain't got the same soul
I like that old time rock 'n' roll

Re: Nostalgia Time! What's your 3 Fave Songs?

LOL Gypsy "COVER OF THE ROLLING STONE"
That brings back Memories.

I saw them at the Bloomsburg Fair

Great band.

They Actually made the Cover after the song came out.
That's one way to get there ;)

Although I Know
OLD TIME ROCK AND ROLL
I can't get the Music for it in my Head to sing it.

Paul, Crazy Arthur Brown got arrested during his set for cussing and giving the finger. He climbed the tower on stage an the cops couldn't get him down. Hilarious. Also had a lot of people trippin heavely as the Orange Juice you bought there was spiked with Owsley Acid!

Re: Nostalgia Time! What's your 3 Fave Songs?

Ok....I'm ready for some MD 20-20 now. Gypsy...you made me pull out my MEATLOAF...."2 out of 3 ain't bad" :)

"Johnny Angel" (cause at the time I had a boyfriend named Johnny :))
"Bobby's Girl" (actually had a boyfriend named Bobby too :))

All songs I like have a memory to them, where I was, with whom I was with, what we were doing....funny how a song can bring back some great memories!!!!

The one song I dispised was HEY JUDE....I think every radio station in NYC played that every other song...I got so sick of it!!!

But another fav of mine.....SHORT PEOPLE and DISCO DUCK........ ;D ;D ;D
