Nobody in to cars, or drag racing here ?

Roger did you drive that Porsche on the hwy? It looks like a track only machine. I use to have a slot track car that looked like that.

Closest I got to all that was to sit next to Dan Blocker (Hoss) and Lorne Greene (Ben Cartwright) from the 'Bonanza' show, during the Indy 500 race about 60 years ago. Thanks for stirring up that memory.

Yep drove it to the event 110 miles. Most of them (to be judged) were trailer ed in. And when we got there all the car-wash bays were full,so I backed it up to a creek and washed it off there:)
You got a good eye,yes it was set up for racing at Lime Rock Conn. raceway:) And that's why it Whooped that 308 :)

Got tons of pix. of the 944 I'll have to dig em out.It had extremely rare 'Gotti' 3 piece Gold wheels.I cracked drivers rear one day and had friends at Rob Dyson Racing weld ,balance & repaint that wheel. And that Gold paint was BIG $$$s

Just remembered; back in the 60s I owed a a 65 Corvette similar to this beauty:

The bad news is it was stolen within 30 days after I bought it. The ink on the paperwork had barely dried.
The good news is, the car being stolen may have saved my life. My friends had been calling me 'leadfoot' for a good reason.
After that, I bought a 'Chevy II' and my nickname faded away--as did some of my more rowdy friends.
Don.......

PS to previous:
The car, or what was left of it, was found in a Chop Shop in Watts about 2 weeks later. Hard to believe a car like this would be given to a Chop Shop, but it happened.
Don...

Parts is big business then & now

You mean they didn’t care for a factory 350 hp L79 small block Chevy II?

I don't even remember if my Chevy II was a V-8 or even a 'straight-6', but I do remember it had less than 200hp.
With the Chevy II, 'those days' were over. Took up mountain climbing to burn off steam.

Looky what I found in my garage !

Poor Bird was sooo buried, almost forgot it was there.
Hasn't seen the road in 4 years or so, am minded to get her out this year, wish me luck !
