Could be an adjustment bracket off an engine too. Do you see any clamp marks along the slot where a washer or bolt might have been? I assume this is made of steel? If brass, never mind! :laughing7:

It looks like a chromed alternator bracket.

I think NHBenz, Terry and Tony all got it right. It's a multi-use part for all of those uses. Would be fairly difficult to narrow down to exactly which it was used for.

Hatch lift "stay" arm... AKA "Quadrant Stay".

Model 'A' era windshield slide/prop.

On many cars from this era you could push the windshield open from the bottom. These slides held it open.

Unless you find a company/manufacture's name on the bracket all of the above mentioned items are great and most likely as close as you're going to get possibilities.
