Metal Detecting
Went down to the RV Thursday. Gerry (Supafly 123) and TimC were there. We went detecting on Fri or Sat (it's all a blur now). I was off by myself and saw this really nice bluff on the side of the wash... just begging to be detected. I started working up the side of the bluff. Before I knew it, I was 8 to 10 feet above the wash floor.... and the rocks underfoot started to move. I KNEW I was going to take a hit. I could not move. My only option was to try and look over my shoulder and try to pick the spot to land. The next instant, I was flying like an eagle... downward. BAM! I got up and spit sand out. My right elbow took a big hit. right pinky wasn't moving right. Left shoulder was also covered with open wounds. BUT.... no bones sticking out so I walked back to where Tim and Gerry were at. By that time, my right elbow "scratch" was now the size of a baseball. Pinky was black'n'blue. and I was HURTING! Morale of the story: DON"T DO IT! Stay away from those rock bluffs. Those stones and dirt have been in place for hundreds and thousands of years but that doesn't mean it will hold your weight. And don't go to such places alone. I was lucky to be able to walk out on my own. Lesson learned.... use your head for more than just bouncing it off of rocks! (and enjoy the flight till you hit bottom!) Incidently, thank you Fisher, for building a Gold Bug 2 that "flew" 10 feet and still works! TTC

The thing was. I was being careful. Maybe too careful. Going slow and watching steps. Testing my footing. It's just with my left side, it sometimes wants to do something else. So for the most part I rely on my right for stability. When that goes. Well the rest is history. Lol

Where the right side goes, so goes the left.... or at least that's the plan. You always want both sides to end up in the same place! If not, you can assume something's wrong, if you didn't get the hint already! Take care, my friend. TTC

Will do. I'll be running (stumbling) along very shortly. Gives me time to research areas.

You know, GDA, if you bring mama, we just might have to get a babysitter for YOU when we.... well, never mind. Ha ha! TTC

Babysitter? Lol Terry. That's why I'd leave my wife behind. Figure you and mom could play gin and down a few while I walk the washes. Lol.
Hopefully soon. I'm finally able to move around without crutches. Man I hate them. Another week and I'll be walking like I normally do. Lol. That's without drinking too.

Hey Terry, it's been a week since your battle with gravity, how ya feeling?
You want to know? Ha ha! How about if I SHOW you? Ha ha! Here's what it looks like today. Ha ha! It was worse! TTC

Holy crap Batman!! Yikes, I feel for ya

At the very bottom of the pic is the elbow. Just above the white arm of the chair is a lump that is now only 1/4 inch. It was .... well, not the size of a baseball, but the size and color of a ripe PLUM! The discoloration goes around the arm and is a total of about 8 inches long. The other portions of the bruises are not significant so no pic of the other side of the arm. Some of you may wish to start a STOP THE VIOLENCE AT GOLD CLAIMS page! TTC

That or Prospectors Against Gravity! Hope you heal up soon.

Can't load pic for some reason. Dang phone. My black and blue is still around toes somewhat but not swollen anymore. Just can't get in a comfortable position without it hurting. Hopefully next week it'll be better.
Hope yours feels and gets better Terry. You able to move it at all? Ya been icing it and keep it elevated? Pain pills helping at all?
Prospectors against gravity. When's the first meeting? I'll be there with my beat up detector to boot.

Your Gold Bug became a Gold Bee as it was flying through the air lol. Glad you're ok, hit's to the elbow are so paralyzingly awful!!! The whole time I was reading it I was like, "oh crap, please don't tell me he fell on his digger!!!"

I know when I finally hit bottom and feeling digger in my back, I was wondering how deep and then if I was retrieving a kidney. Fortunately only scratched the skin. Lol

Ouch! that had to hurt. I have'nt had one like that in a long time. Mother nature will try her best to hurt you when you least expect it.

Yea, that's a nasty pic, you should have a doctor look at that " sarcasm ". I'm trying to remember if I ever had a bruise that big

All kidding aside hope you heel well, true and soon
OBD

Tnx all. TTC

Hey terry. How's it swinging? Lol

You feeling better these days? Hope that swelling went down. Still counting these weeks for dr appt and hopefully no more boot. Going to go detect and get my retriever back tomorrow hopefully. Sending mother down into wash to get it. Lol. This should be fun.
So hopefully I can get up there in a couple weeks.
