Best conditioned hammered coin I've had up for a while this one so very pleased tonight with today's outing. How that one little find or lack there of can make or break a session.
Found in West Yorkshire, England on old pasture onky 3-4 inches down.
It's been a great permission and I've had 5 other Edward I coins amongst other silvers and relics from there.
Hadn't paid it a visit either for a while thinking I'd pretty much exhausted the place but just goes to show, never say never as nowhere is "done"
Edward I penny 1c London.3

Agreed, one find like this would

He doesnt look a day over 700!
Super condition and the entire legend is legible...nice one!
They really don't come up in this condition very often. 90% of my hunting is on old pasture. They don't turn up as often as they do on regularly ploughed land but there's more chance they will be in this kind of condition when they do.
It's an early issue Edward I (1270's) and is the fifth Eddie ive had off that permission but definetly the best.
In fact looking at my collection of hammered's this has to be my second best ever condition wise at least.
The best one I have and a real stand out was the first ever hammered i found. I dont think it's possible to actually get a better conditioned hammered coin to be fair...
