My cousin and I got an early start, to what felt like a beautiful fall morning. We were hunting a family owned farm in Virginia and we both turned out some great finds. I ended up finding 14 CW bullets, mostly fired 3 ringers. Also an enfield, sharps and fired musket ball. Also dug was a 1905(I believe) V nickel. The big awesome find for the day was my oldest U.S. silver to date, and also my biggest U.S. silver. I didn't know the Capped busts were larger than the quarters after that. It was a sweet 1821. The bullets were enough to make me happy, but the silver really topped off the day. It was right next to the fence and near power lines. So there was a lot of chatter, but the F75 hit on a SOLID quarter. Never be afraid to check near fences, sure I thought it may have been trash or a modern quarter, but I was so pleasantly surprised to see that beautiful eagle on the back!! Can't wait for fall and to really get back in to the "swing" of things. Thanks for looking and HH!

That's a great find Matt! Bust silver is as hard as hens teeth to find around here. Even though I've dug plenty of colonial silver, I've only been able to scrounge out a bust dime and half dime in 15+ years. Nice going!

Thank you, Bill! It's been since February since my last silver coin, which was only a silver roosie. This made it well worth the wait.

I'm always learning something new on this site. I never knew that the early capped bust quarters were larger than the later coins. I only wish that I learned this after finding one myself! Congrats on a terrific hunt.

Thank you guys!

What is the item in the last picture there to the upper left of the two buttons? It looks like the back of a memorial penny mashed into something but I know it's not....

Some sort of clip, I'm assuming. Money clip perhaps.
