It has been a while since I have posted on here, I have been finding a few things, but I just have'nt been posting them. This past Saturday I hunted a new site for about two hours and found five three ring 69's, a 69 round ball, some shot bullets, an eagle button, and six strange bullets I have never seen before. They calibrated out at 11mm, if anyone knows what they are please :help: let me know. I'm not sure if it was a campsite or part of the battle that went through my area. I will be going back soon, ecspecialy since it is only about three or four miles from my house!
Thanks for looking
Matt

UPDATED NEW PICTURES!!

Note-The picture with the Ringtail Sharps and Tear drop are for size reference only. Sorry new pictures are not the best. :BangHead:

hey!!! look at the pic of the six bullets we're talking about .. the one in the top right corner has an "S" on the base :o
It does look like a "S", maybe they are marked? That would be crazy! HH

yes it would, an unknown type marked with "CS" or "US" or something else.. that would be amazing

I bet Matt has no idea, prob just cleaned them and didn't look at the base

I did'nt notice any letters when I cleaned them, but could've just missed it, when I get home I will look. I hope that's a letter and not towel lint or something! :laughing7:

Yep, let us know when you get home and please post a close-up of the base either way... It looks like a raised "S", a lot like the "57" in the base of an Enfield

Re: New site produces some odd Civil War bullets!

As I'm sure most of you know the Confederacy purchased all kinds of "unusual " bullets from the Eeuropeans, especially the Germans and English. I've seen several here on Tnet that were identified as one type and on checking very closely I see that they are not exactly the same as was identified, but so close the untrained eye couldn't tell the difference. There are so many variations I doubt all of them will ever be positively identified. Monty

Hey you should be thinking up a name for you bullets, the "Arkansas Hog" was named by the diggers that found them.

I may have to, do you think they are worth as much as the hogs?

Not sure, the Trans-Mississippi bullet collectors will be the ones that will determine how much they are willing to pay. If I could afford one I'd be bidding!

Re: New site produces some odd Civil War bullets!

Could they possibly be .58 Type II Williams Cleaner Bullets, like the ones in this image?
