That stone was a stone long before a native picked it up.It had the same qualities then.that's why flakeable stone was used for the blade type tools. There is flakeable stone where you are so I can't see making a cutting tool out of material that doesn't fit the need.also there is a very complete profile of the archaeological artifacts that have been documented for your area that shows what types of things hardstone was used for.
