New George washington gold dollar, MINT ERROR, I GOT ONE!!!!

It will probably go a lot higher than that before Thursday. I remember a few years ago when the Sac dollars came out. someone found some with the Washington Quarter obverse. Those things wound up going for about 25K - 30K. It turned out there were very very few of them, and 1 person wound up buying most of them.

Hope these turn out to be rare also, but get the money while you can.

Nice find Ron!

I see some "entrepreneurs" are posting the incredible upside down edge error on EBay. Let me see, I opened one of my rolls, and 12 of the 25 dollars are incised upside down. I guess "I'm Rich!!!", or perhaps it is not an error at all. lol

Anyway, good luck with the auction, just be careful about the payment.

I just wonder how long until people simply mill off the edge and make their own "non printed"
edges. It will make the coin undersized, but Im sure people will fake that error by the
thousands LOL. Be careful :)

I'm not sure about this one.I figure the edges were stamped before the obv. and rev.,cause I just opened a roll and 10 of the twenty five were "upside down."

What did the coin end up going for? Just curious...

Mike

I saw it last night at $412.00, think the auction closes later tonight.

Here is another error I found on a forum I frequent. Photo is by Mike Clements.

Are these coins found at the bank or do you have to get them from the mint?

Go to your bank or any bank for that matter, shouldn't be a problem yet.

Go man! It's up to $500.!!!!!!! Good luck, hope it keeps climbing!

And still 6 hours left.

Could the real buyers still be hiding in the weeds,
waiting for the last few seconds for their bids :-\

all have a good un....................

Wow, You did GOOOD ! Way to go on getting it up there fast. I counted 19
more auctions with this error now. Smoothed edge, no lettering. Probably wont
be a rare thing it seems, but YOURS was :)

Early bird catches the worm :) On a side note, looks like the US Mint absolutely BUTCHERED
this first run ROTFL. Never seen so many errors.. edge inspections musta been done by
blind monkeys.

Good luck, and gratz' on the sale !

Wow that is so cool! I'd have probably sold them both though!

No probably just illegal Migrant workers. ;D :D ;D :D

I went and bought 4 rolls the day they came out and the teller at the bank said they had already went through the rest of the rolls and found about ten smooth edge coins a piece a total of about 30 mine are still rolled i think i will hold on to mine and cross my fingers for an error or 2 and hope that all the tellers lose theirs in a lake somewhere ;D

I just picked up two rolls today, opened one roll and 16 (left side of pic) out of 25 are upside down lettering, no smoothies though. I like the idea of not busting open the other roll, might wait to see how "rare" these may become and see what's going on with them.

It is funky though, looking at mine, I see that the outside stamped lettering does not line up perfectly with any part of the coins image. Like you would expect "In God We Trust" to begin and end at a specific point on the coins edge, like starting at George's nose or something. These don't do that. It's all over the place.

My opinion, the US Mint has been doing a real crappy job in the coinage department since they started the Statehood Quarter Program, they're really sloppy. With today's technology, coins should be flawless leaving the mint.

But, we collectors are having a ball! :D

P.S.
And they look like gaming tokens, anyone wanna go play the slots! ??
