Mountain Yellow-Legged Frog

Sacramento - The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) is proposing to list the Sierra Nevada yellow-legged frog and the northern distinct population segment of the mountain yellow-legged frog as endangered and the Yosemite toad as threatened under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). The Service is also proposing to designate critical habitat for these three amphibian species in California: 1,105,400 acres across 16 counties for the Sierra Nevada yellow-legged frog, 221,498 acres across two counties for the mountain yellow-legged frog, and 750,926 acres across seven counties for the Yosemite toad. With overlapping areas, the total proposed critical habitat for the three amphibians is 1,831,820 acres. Most of the proposed critical habitat is on federal lands.

Yosemeite Toad

“With two amphibian species possibly facing extinction, one more at serious risk, and almost two million acres of critical habitat being proposed, we will need the best available scientific information in order to make our final decision on protecting these species,” said Jan Knight, Acting Field Supervisor for the Sacramento Fish and Wildlife Service. “America’s wildlife resources belong to all of us, and ensuring the health of imperiled species is a shared responsibility. We encourage the public to submit information to help us better understand the condition of these species and their habitat.”

IF YOU LOOK TO THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE PAGE I AM LINKING TO YOU WILL SEE "FEDERAL REGISTERNOTICES" THOSE ARE THE 2 FILES EXPLAINING WHAT THE PLAN IS , WHERE THE LOCATIONS WILL BE, WHY HOW AND INSANE MICRO MACRO DESCRIPTIONS OF THE PLAN, AND THESE ARE ALLL GOLD BEARING MINING AREAS,,,,THIS COULD ALSO BE LOOKED AT AS AN AGENDA 21 PLOT, I MEAN 2 MILLION ACRE CLOSER ????

Yeah I want to re-write my comment I submitted a little, I didn't make the points I really wanted to, If anyone hasn't submitted a comment its quick and easy. This will affect everybody not just serious miners, if you like panning, sluicing, rock hounding anything make a comment. We only have 9 so far. Also since commenting I haven't noticed a tail or a drone yet lol.

That's good that you stood up and fired your peashooter, even tho you didn't like the way it sounded. I didn't like my comment either. Not to worry - its
more about STANDING UP than about what is said.

I entered my comments at regulations.gov regarding this issue. Comments as follows:
It is disturbing to me that you at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are proposing to designate approximately 2 million acres of public land as critical habitat for 3 amphibians. This would effectively shutdown various public use activities in the area. The areas up for consideration in this designation in my opinion are difficult to access at best and are minimally impacted by human activities. You have asked for any scientific information/knowledge/evidence of what is affecting these species. Below is a link to a scientific study and evidence that an infectious fungal disease is what is affecting these frogs and toads. The article is one week old, so it is current scientific information. The link to the article is Pregnancy Test Frog May Have Spread Fatal Fungus. This is a biological not environmental issue that is affecting these species. Please do not shutdown these areas and deprive us of our legal right to access and enjoy these natural areas. Sincerely, Pete Rosario (Concerned Citizen)

Filing a comment on this issue was very easy. I hope a lot of people respond to this and do the same. Even though I now live in Florida, I lived many years in northern Cal and enjoyed the Sierras for all of those years. It would be a shame to have them shut us out of those great wilderness areas. I will be in El Dorado and the Oroville areas in September to do some prospecting and sampling. Really looking forward to that!!! If they pass this we are scr#@%d!

Yeah this one seems like a rational law but for every rational one they pass 9 that we don't need lol.

In all probability this is just a handy agenda to get the government to allocate funds. Then portions of the funds can be siphoned off, and be used elsewhere.
There are people in these United States that are in much more need than some frogs (which are too small to eat).

I think I will submit an application for an alternative energy ROW and an application for a governnment grant to develop alternative energy and at the same time apply for mining claims in the alternative energy ROW that would be granted to me so I can mine the goverment for the grant, the land and mining rights all at the same time. If it came to pass then the BLM could show that indeed they stand by their statement that multi-use activities are not at odds on these lands they are proposing to segregate from the body of public lands they administer. Someone wake me up! I'm dreaming!

Don't laugh, you could do it. There's grant apps all over the web to copy. You just need to learn the hundred or so catch-phrases of enviro-speak! (collaboration, building consensus, stakeholders, outreach, sustainability, moving forward, working with others,
cooperation, smart growth, restoration action meetings, etc., etc.) Make sure you put them all in your application, and you will
succeed!

Ok, I know there's at least 20 guys on this forum who can make informed comments on this editorial. Remember, its just a land grab attempt to lock Americans
out of their forests. We owe it to the vets who died for us defending our freedoms.
