Besides all water does is make the gunpowder even stronger :o

A ) Sorry Jake, that is not correct. Like all combustionable materiel, it needs to be dry to ignite. Ever heard of the expression "keep your powder dry"? All propellants are hydroscopic to an extent..

As for the projectile, it is a 50 cal, boat tail , designed for extreme range, this means that it is not a tracer since they had a square base. It was an AP or API - armor piercing or armor piercing incendiary. An API is NOT explosive as such. It is basically quite safe to use as a decoration since it needs a high speed impact to ignite it, far more than just dropping it on the floor..

p.s. I used to load my aircraft with 1 tracer, 2 API, it was very hard on Japanese aricraft hehehe.

Oops, should have said homemade blackpowder :-\ When you make gunpowder you have to add water to it to make the Kno3 bind with the charcoal and sulphur...So in a way you wouldnt have good blackpowder without water :P I dip homemade blackpowder fuses into water to make them burn slower ::)

HOLA JAKE: Stay away from homemade black powder, too sensative to friction which is why you use water to mix it. Remember even the professioonal palnts lose peeps every so often, and rhey know what ehy are doing.
