The easiest way for a novice to tell would be to test for silver or gold. In time you will learn to tell the difference between precious metals and cheap pot metal. This looks like a shiny plated lead/zinc based pot metal replica souvenir. Thank you Crusader for volunteering your time helping others.

why would copy in ground found in 1600 site

Replica souvenirs are often sold at historic sites. I find replica Spanish doubloons on the Treasure Beaches dropped by tourists. If pot metal is not corroded, it is recently lost.

why would they copy a coin like this and is there a way mayby to find when it was copyed thank you
