A friend of mine that is not computer literate asked for my help in trying to place a value on 3 items he has. The first item is a 1876 Centennial coin that is made out of Brass? As you can see in the pic it is quite large and in good shape other than a couple of dings on the edge. My friend is 75 years of age and found this when he was quite a bit younger laying on the ground under a pile of scrap iron he was junking out. One side bears the inscription "In Commemoration of the hundredth year of American Independence" with a date of 1876, That side also says "Act of Congress 1874" near the bottom of the coin. The other side bears the inscription "These United Colonies are and of right ought to be Free and Independent States" with a 1776 date.
His second item is a quarter with tails on both sides so it is not dated. It seems to be solid silver. His wife found this on their property. I have no idea if genuine. Maybe somebody minted them for joke coins but each side looks authentic when viewed separately.
The third item is a bronze statue of a skinny cow and calf. It's been in his family for over one hundred years and originally had a wood base trimmed in green velvet supporting it that was missing by the time he inherited it. There are no evident markings stamped on it to indicate who the sculptor was. The pics aren't great as there was a lot of dust on the base from sitting on his mantle for years.
If anyone could provide info about these items and their possible value it would be appreciated.
