Minelab Explorer SE; Garrett GTI 1500
Found this in one of the farm fields I've been searching lately.

Only have about 4-5 hours into searching the field.

So far I have found an 1860-64 Fatty Indian Head Penny
1863 Civil War Token...The Tea Store 140 Woodward Detroit.
1911 Wheat Penny
1924 Wheat Penny

Returned again a few nights ago to try out a small coil with my Explorer SE...as the 8" and 10" seem too big. Plus, I only have maybe a week or two before its planted for the season.

Anyway, returned and the 3rd hole I dig out pops this 1822 Large Cent. Not in the best shape, but its my oldest US Coin.

After that...right before I left...I dug the newest coin there so far...a 1945 Mercury Dime.

Congrats on the LC. Dont see them posted much beyond east coast. Im on the east coast and cant get my coil over one this year

Awesome! I've pretty much ruled out ever finding a LC here in Michigan. I drive to my grandparent's in southern Ohio to find those :)

His is the oldest I have seen in Michigan, but they are for sure out there! I have found 4 in the last year (first year metal detecting). Michigan has some rich history before it was even a state in 1837, as proven with his coin.

Lucky you. SE Michigan, at least where I live, is packed with detectorists.

There are always "those corners & long forgoten places, that hold treasures"

I've found 3 total. The 1822 was my oldest. Also found an 1834, 1843. Found both of the others a few years back 2013 maybe? Found them both in a weeks time at different locations. Research is definitely key as well. I actually found a coin from 1781 as well. Its called a North American Token. All of those coins were dug in SE Michigan as that is where I am from as well. They're out there.
