Gentlemen stop the insults now before a mod has to step in...

50% of the time on these type of artifacts it is almost impossible to tell one way or the other from just pictures on a forum, especially low pixel pictures...

Sorry charl, but when someone puts several posts in a row in a confrontational fashion aimed at me, my hackles raise. Always have always will. Anyone following this thread knows who started the crap.

Why did you take the picture of your gorget example off the thread gatorboy? It sure was a nice one.

please friends did you ever take a minute and try to think about the reasons i don't start or participate in this kind of carrying on?

I don't know why anyone would start that kind of crap either. But I do understand not putting up with it or letting it go un addressed.

a fossil crinoid stem looks as though it may be a candidate :) Thank you for that information! As far as my circular stone, I guess I will keep digging!

I've been saying what this new study says for awhile now. I've been rude myself online, but I've also asked myself, "why do I do that"? This report is actually a summary of what I pointed out during a recent forum spat, namely, it's the Internet that is making it easy to be mean...

Friendships cut short on social media as people get ruder: survey | Reuters

good quote from the report:

"What really is surprising is that so many people disapprove of this behavior but people are still doing it. Why would you name call online but never to that person's face?"

Charl, I hear what you're saying. Every generation that steps further away from trading chickens for flour is losing touch with basic sensitivity. Behind a monitor, across the Internet, and perhaps in an entirely different country, makes its very easy to forget or disregard basic manners. The world is changing to evolve with technology not principle. My two Lincoln's...

yup charl

i could say a lot more but one thing my dad has told me:

when you let a "button pusher" push your buttons, he is the winner

Er, um, not when they push the button on a better button pusher, or someone that won't be pushed around. My father always told me if you let a person push you around, the more they will do it. So Ive never tolerated it from anybody, and it has always ceased with immediate resistance. In short I think it is best to nip a problem in the bud, and not let it blossom. How long has your button pusher been pushing buttons around here?

Are you still talking about little ole me.
I'm flattered.

No can of worms has been opened tears of the moon. And I don't know why you think there has been. Opinions are like noses, everyone has one, they are usually different, and each is entitled to their own. I have seen enough similar rocks to know they are not so uncommon, and usually not artifacts.

Here's an example. As much as I wanted this to be one when I picked it up, it is not an artifact. See the similarities though? Even has the raised bumps in the center of a couple.

How did you find out that was natural, or are you going on your intuition? Nothing wrong with a man sticking with his own conclusion. Just seems far to uniformed to be natural. Then again, Mother Nature AKA, God, has created some amazing things. I'm just curious.

That's too little to be used as a base for a drill. You really need both hands on the drill, not one holding another rock beneath. It's New Mexico, so plenty of rock slabs or ledges that could serve that purpose. Go try it and see what you think. Just rocks.

Can't seem to find the pic, but last year someone found a bannerstone in an overhang, and right next to it was the core that was drilled out with the reed/cane.
