Hey there MTTS,
Looking good 2017 total & now first 2018 Au!

You asked a question about videos for the GGT sluice, you considering a purchase? I purchased one late in 2017 BUT as it came about I never had the chance to get it wet. I look forward to doing that though I'm uncertain when that might be as right now I'm interviewing for two positions one in Utah and one in India. The U.S.A. position is the safest but lacks the possibilities of the India position. Then again I might not receive offers from either company but I suspect I will from both. Choices always Choices (hey that is just the way life is supposed to be)! Best of success with whatever you have in mind...............63bkpkr

Hey there Herb, yea i was thinking about picking up one or two of them up. I love my Bazookas but still in search of a true backpacking fluidbed. The 12 inch mini was useless. The Nugget i believe is 20 inches and the trap looks way bigger which was the problem imo with the mini. Too small and didnt fluidize properly.

Nugget is a 26" version of the Explorer, shortened for backpacking. I wanted a functional model with decent capture chamber capacity, but easier to stuff into a pack. The capture chamber fluidizes material the same as the Explorer. The shorter transport deck just means that you need good flow to run unclassified material - shorter deck, less increase in water velocity. Should have videos I mentioned ready Friday morning. Will let you know when posted.

I have the explorer but, haven't used it yet... GGT was supposed to help me out with something so I haven't used it..

HINT HINT

The trap looks awesome three tubes instead of two. longer and the angle change at the transition of the deck to trap should be a nice touch.

It isn't that big either Eric Lighter than the same size sniper and should handle more material.

And the Inspection are is more of an initial recovery point it will hold onto a lot of the gold like you get at the river.

You might consider jumping to the explorer it looks like it will take a lot of feed in the situations where you can just dig.

I never liked the Mini Bazooka I could never tell anyone to use it. It lost more gold than any sluice I've ever tested.

Last trip out i went back across the river to my old spot, lol. Did things a bit different though. This particular bedrock outcrop is angular rock with nice flat step downs. Some shallow deprresions were filled with material. About 1/8 inch thick. Not much quantiy but quality.
Most times these are just blondes but occasionaly hold good fine gold This was one of those sections. I went around leisurely with my kitchen spoon scraping up sandy gold. Doesnt get any easier then that! 20180127_141041.jpg20180127_141056.jpg20180203_192926.jpg20180203_200543.jpg

No this is from 2 weeks ago, but im hoping for a similar cleanup from this weekend.

Ive been going crazy with winters short days. Cant do squat after work. So ive been literally counting how many hours of sunlight we gain per day. Once daylight saving hits next month its on!!! I figured i start poking around for the 45 min i can after work to locate pay and formulate stratgies so when i got enough daylight im already on it.

So the closest spot to my house was really good to me year before last but last year beacuse of the big water it was unuasble for the most part. I went out last week to check it out. One side of the river has good gold close and the other side has very little close but best gold if you can get far enough up river. So i took the later route just to see how close i could get to the best gold. Well turns out not very far. The "trail" is already brutal in good conditions but the water from last year left a muddy mess and the water level is high enough to cover the easier path. I ended up in no mans land with 20 minutes to work with. Then since im on fairly steep ground with uneven rocks everywhere. i ended up not being able to reach down far enough to submerge my pan without risking falling in ugh! I was sliping and fumbling around like an idiot. hope nobody saw me lol. I did 3 pans and 4 flakes then decide to get out of dodge.

Didnt get much out of it at the time but it pays off in the end when you already have a routine and are on the pay as soon as "season" opens. 20180217_164931.jpg20180217_164911.jpg

Saturday trip. got to the spot nice an early, weather was decent but that water is sooooo damn cold. Little breezy too so it was cold. I worked down river a bit and found this sweet section of bedrock that was a bit high up out the water lines but had this gnarly huge crack thats been cleaned ouy 100 times but with last years flood, tons of material(mostly sand). At first glance it looks like worthless sand but after digging a little there were good sized rock and gravel mixed in and the first pan was nice a dozen colors. right below a nice lever sand bar with NO cobble... Carried over a decent size rock that i could sit on to pan. The material was easy digging and i had a killer panning spot 15 ft away. I was able to sit with my legs outstreched which enablea you to center those full heavy pans close to your body with 2 hands to work it down till its light enough for just 1 hand. Saved ao much energy and allowed me to just rip through pans. I dont know howmany i did but it was a lot! Probably moved a half yard in about 5 hrs with just a pan. Not a bad take for "worthless" sand that 1000's of people have walked right past!20180223_175946.jpg20180223_175755.jpg20180210_142927.jpg20180210_143007.jpg20180210_142858.jpg20180210_142908.jpg20180210_142837.jpg20180210_142919.jpg20180210_142947.jpg20180210_142955.jpg

Nice looking area MTTS and a good result for "worthless" sand.
Well done.

MTTS, In the snow, I've been down Green Valley and Euchre Bar and yes it is sooo cold! But not this year as on 22 Dec 17 I was hit with Flu type A than on 18 Feb 18 I was so lucky to come down with Flu type B. The first one included pneumonia and the second one included a sinus infection as well as pneumonia. I'm still fighting the second one off, it is beginning to yield but its taking Two antibiotics to do it. Right now all I can do is look at pictures of Gold country as setting foot out there will not happen for a few more months.

As soon as I recover from the flu and my strength is back the left shoulder rotary cuff will have surgery, this will slow me down for awhile but I plan on getting out late in the year. Nice Au you've been locating, glad your getting some of the "good stuff"!

Cool Pictures, thank you for sharing. Last year was not a good health year for me or you it sounds like. I think mine was brought on from the major storms we had.

Havent struck it rich yet but ive located enough pay dirt to keep me happy for now. I have some ideas to get to the next level... we will see, lots of different factors and things lineing up just right. My fever is only growing. Not being able to dredge is killing me but there is still good gold to be had.

"WE" are supposed to have Only Fevers from locating or trying to locate the yellow metal. The ones I've had from the flu's have been unkind.

Continuing to find color is like taking some type of Super Rejuvenating Formula, kinda like Popeye's Can of Spinach (do you even know what I'm referring to there?) anyway, you've been finding it and that is all that matters!!

I enjoyed my time out last Sept/Oct with the colors of the changing trees being the 'color' that kept me going.

IMG_3423.jpg Best of Success to the both of us in 2018 though I will be happy to just be out there again after the shoulder has mended...........Herb

Last Saturday I met up with Asmbandits to get some gold. In the last few weeks weather has been bad. Havent been able to do anything aftet work and this morning was absoluting freezing. We were at the spot by 9am and the trail was actually frozen lol. This side of the canyon is pretty lush with vegatation so the dirt is fairly moist and it froze. Hadnt seen that before.

We navigated the bedrock to get to a section ive been wanting to test. It didnt seem all that great so we moved on down further to more unexplored area but it turned out even worse so after an hour or two we headed back to the original spot but not before a piece of bedrock Asmbandits was prying on exploded and at first i thought it caught him right in the eye but luckily was just below. After a few scary moments and a little blood we werr back at it. I decided to work some dirt that was right at the base of a massive angled slab of bedrock with some decent sized rock and some roots. I knew i was on the heavies when i pulled out a pretty old Coca cola can. A plastic cup, loads of broken glass and not one but two forks..

Hands were getting pretty cold by the end of the day, i had some hand warmers dropped into my gloves but they dont work very good with out air flow. Jerry had some cool electric gloves that he got online for like 10 bucks. He also brought his drone and i was really impressed with it. Might have to pick one up. It was a fun day out with good people and got some yellow metal to take home.20180304_143529.jpg20180304_143754.jpg
