Mytimetoshine

MTTS, good morning! NF NF American I assume gets a little rough just after the obvious trail ends near Herfty 1's claim (just below the pool). A lot of water runs through there all year long and the hike in from the bridge is relatively easy.

My August trip to the NFAR (now below 200 cfs) was cancelled as I was not allowed to take the three weeks of vacation I have! I will be in New Mexico relaxing with friends at 7,000' watching the Elk munch their lawn grass . I still expect to make it to NFAR country in early September, I will stay in touch............................63bkpkr

Hey Mytime....
Great journal ya got going here... and some real nice gold... Congrats..

Thanks Johndoe!

Well this sinus/ear infection is slowing me down, cant seem to shake it. The weather has been between 95 and 109 for weeks and weeks adding to the challange. The temps, work duties as well as having my daughter in town for summer break has virtually put and end to "after work" digging..for now..

This was from Saturday 2 weeks ago. My energy level is down and my spot seeming to play out as evident in my take...I susoect there is more but i cant get to it...Oh well it was good while it lasted. Time to switch gears and hit some other spots now that the water is low and safe.

About 5hrs and 6 buckets.. production definelty lower.

Saturday after last post, again 2 weeks ago but cleaned everything up today. Met up with Schoolofhardknocks and we went sniping!

It was hot and i didnt feel good but made it through the day ok. I finally broke down and dropped 150 on a 4L Sawyer gravity bag water filtration system. Works great, never have to ration water again.

Found a nice flat rock on end acting as a riffle, with some nice roots mixed in and the first 2 pans were really good then only ok..

Once the sun came out we put on our wetsuits and snorkles and sniped. I had trouble finding anything good though but sure was nice being in that cold refreshing water all day. Wouldnt have lasted long otherwise very hot and no shade.

I have not been out even once since then. STILL sick....10 weeks and my right ear is complety shut/plugged hurts pretty bad.

Yesterday back to Kaiser for my 3rd round of Anti biotics. This one i have to take for 30 day. Plus 50mg Presdnisone steriod for 7 days and nasal spray steriod. Im all messed up... never been sick like this for this long before ever. I havent even thought about trying to do any mining...and it takes a lot for that to happen to me lol. But then you add the heat!... Northen California has been getting scortched! Sacramento broke the record set in 1877! Not one day all July that wasnt at least 90. Avg temp during the month 98.4. I know it hit about 111 at my house one day!.

Im going to cancle my vacation day for Aug 18 probably wont be better by then..ugh

Thats some nice gold but you gotta get your health back ...
Take it easy and get healed up.....

Take care Erick, I really hope you start seeing some improvement soon buddy, I feel for you.. I have also been going through some medical issues since last Sept. Coincidentally I thought I was suffering from a sinus infection and still believe it most definitely is sinus related, but after an initial er visit for dizziness and feeling of passing out to a sinus headache vertigo nightmare that still after ct scans and ent and neurologist exams I have yet to be even diagnosed... I have good stretches and bad, its worse when I try to relax and I feel like if I keep myself busy it helps, also I wake up every day and seem fine and my symptoms progress throughout the day.. Idk I feel for you dude Ive never been ill like this before as well.. Ima shoot you a pm also.

Wow, that was fun. Last week I finished a 3 week course of Augmentin plus a week of Prednisone and Flonase inhaler. Finally starting to feel better. I just hope it doesnt come back, that was miserable.

I have not done anthing mining related what so ever. I had a vacation day scheduled for friday but since the heat is insane (forcast 110) i canceled it, im just gonna go to work. Im not ready for that kind of heat and i can get free AC all day at the office.

As soon as the weather calms down and i continue to improve im getting some gold in my pan.

Glad to see ya feeling better.... take it easy and get it done with.... No relapse...

Welcome back
Prednisone is the magic stuff.

Also @AsmBandits:
Sounds like an inner ear thing a friend of mine had, once they pinpointed it they gave him some headbanging (metal) exercises he jokingly called them. Settles the fluid in the inner ear back down.

Still improving but only about 80%. That was good enough to head out after work last thursday to get some gold.

Last time i was out it was light till 830. Now 730 and in a month the time change will mark the end of the after work season.

So i only got about 1 1/2 hr in and i wasnt really feeling it l. First thing i noticed is with the 2 months of zero physical activity i was struggling to dig the material that i was shreading earlier. Energy level was very low so i think I got 2 maybe 2 1/2 buckets ran classified to 1/2.

Dug up some more pure mercury and of course i didnt bring anything to keep it seperate. I also forgot my 1/8 classifier so i had more cons to bring home than normal. I had hoped the extra cons might keep the gold and mercury seperate but no such luck. It gobbled it ALL almost.. That stuff is like supercharged, its hard to figure how it was able to avoid gold contact in the river.

Anyways im back on the horse. Now to get into shape and add to my totals before the year is up. My goal for the year was 25 grams and i WAS actually on track to make it, but as usual life doesnt always go as planned. Now im just hoping to get more than i got last year.

The weight on that Amalgam is probably half, the mercury on it is pretty "wet". Left me with almost nothing not amalgameted lol.

Met up with n01d3x on Saturday morning to get some gold. Still not all the way back to normal but getting there.

Went to go check out a new section of river that niether of us had been to. We hit the trail about 9 and down to the river isnt to bad maybe 20 minutes. I had eyed an inside bend on google map so after quickly sampling the bar we crossed the river amd started making our way downstream a bit.

After we had just about got there it bacame obvious it would have been much easier to have stayed in the other side and crossed at the spot we were going, lol. My bad!

n01d3x is a good guy and a good prospector. He got probably twice the gold i did. I decided to try working some moss that was exposed on some bedrock above the water line. Loaded with very fine black sand and gold. You have to get it wet first before you try to rip it out or all the material just falls right out. So my strategy was to bring up a pan full of water to wet it, fill pan with moss, take back down to waters edge to pan and then dump into another catch pan. Not very optimal. Needed a bucket..

Ended up doing ok considering we only worked maybe 4hrs and if i had a better set up. Its amazing how much gold was in it really. Half a gram from a patch of moss maybe 2ft x 3ft. Its time consuming to shake and pan out though. I bet it would break up nicely in say the crash box of a highbanker! have to have the mats set up for very fine stuff though.

n01d3x worked a nice bedrock crack that was fairly high up. He showed me a few pickers and i almost was gonna change up strategy but i was curios just how much the moss would have in it. I mean there is literally a crap ton of it so if proccesing efficiantly it could be worth it. But then again he sent a text of his cleanup and i wouldnt be surprised if it was 2grams so, i think ill bring my crevice tools next time lol.

Weather was great, got some good gold, felt pretty good health wise and n01d3x was really easy to get along with and a great prospecting partner. It was a good day.

Sorry i dont know why the pictures are all sideways. It wouldnt let me upload like normal in the tapatalk app. had to do an attachment 20170916_124614.jpg20170916_124621.jpg

What a scenic section of river to prospect on! Its awesome that you have such a great stretch of river to explore. Keep posting - really enjoy seeing these areas and color...

Got out one last time afterwork the other week. The spot ive been digging is much farther away then the spot i worked last year. There just isnt enought daylight left by the time i get there to justify it any longer. I barely got an hour in on this trip. About 2 buckets, not a bad take. I felt pretty good health wise as well. Felt much stronger. There is still some weird stuff going on with pressure in my ears on and off that doesnt feel like its going away but its not holding me back anymore really.

This time i remebered to bring a snuffer so i could seperate any mercury. But this time the stuff i dug up wasnt all together in one or 2 balls it was dozens of really small ones so i just let it go into the catch bucket. Of course it came together and i ended up with 2 amalgam blobs anyways lol.

This sideways picture thing is annoying. Anyone else having proplems? I post with the Tapatalk app

Yes the sideways picture issue really blows, you would think they could do something about it, im on all types of forums and never had this issue anywhere else. If you edit the pic before you post sometimes it helps ive found. Glad you're feeling better dude I've been riding a improvement wave myself hopefully it keeps up. Don't know if you have your daughter this weekend but I'm going to be out this Sunday if you want to join.

Asm sent you a PM

Very late on posting this trip. It was Saturday following my last post so that would be 3 weeks ago!

Finally back to 100% I felt great, had energy to dig for about 5 solid hours!

Unfortunatley the clean up produced much less then what i had been getting. Only .55g and most of that covered in Mercury. I should have had over a gram maybe 1.5 but i guess the pay streak is finally playing out. I was seeing good gold in every pan so im not sure what went wrong [emoji848]

I rotated the pictures so they would come out normal after upload but now it says the edit pics file is too big....

And...i forgot to get the gold shot... I thought i had taken them already before i added them to the vial [emoji849]

MTTS,
You were way better off finding gold than cutting trail where I was. I enjoyed being "out there" though without having found what I was looking for after putting in all that effort makes me weary, mentally & physically. I am now in San Diego, drove back yesterday, need to unload the Bronco and get my life going again! I wonder what the next chapter will be like? Best of success...................63bkpkr
