Mystery spoon ring...

I found this ring a couple of months ago and didn't think too much about it. A couple of days ago I made my first post on the site and a few questions arose. Where would you get a silver dime in 1969? I originally thought someone broke it from a proof set. Then I found out you couldnt get a proof set in silver at the time. It is a 1969 D as you can see from the pics.
Any ideas on how to figure out if it is silver would be appreciated. It sounds like silver when you drop it, I know that doesnt help a lot but... It has no copper showing on the edge. The way you see it is the way I found it. Only cleaned it a little with soap and water. Around here regular dimes always turn reddish in color if they have been in the ground a while. Found this about 5"down.
Thanks for any input.

The dime is 1960. The machine that made the ring is responsible for the scuff that looks like a tail on a "9."

it's impossible for it to be a 1960, if it were the mint mark would be on the reverse instead of above the date as ggossage stated above. no doubt it's a '69. not silver, but extremely cool

That's really cool congrats

very nice, I tried to make one hitting a coin with a spoon but wow it was a project and is still in my drawer half done.

It's to precise to be an actual coin ring......I believe it was manufactured that way......silver content ????
