ANYONE HAVE INFO?

WHOA !!!

That is obviously some type of shell,, from where ???

Where did you find this?

This MAY be "LIVE" and I would treat it as such until someone of the proper wisdom can make a sound judgment otherwise.

Please be careful digging and handling ordinance.

Ya, I would probably show that to the police and let them determine if it's live or not.

Let me offer a word of advice BEFORE you call the authorities. I've posted this story on here before but here it goes again:

Years ago a diving buddy found an unexploded practice bomb on a reef used for that purpose back in WWII. Small, only about 12 - 15 inches long. He brought it home. That evening a roommate suggested that it might be dangerous and he should get rid of it. So he called the fire department to inquire what to do. 15 minutes later the fire department arrived with police and the bomb squad. The neighborhood was evacuated. Everyone involved was questioned and the offending item was removed and destoryed.

Take what you want from my experience. But think twice before you notify anyone.

Couldn't have said it better DCMatt
There was just a story on the news last week in Calif. SOmeone phoned in inquiring about a grenade with a pin. It was a dummy. It was even hollow on the bottom when they panned it with the news camera. The entire cavalry came out for it.

Frankly, I think that the authorities acted in everyone's best interest in DCMatt's story. I'm sure that your neighbors, not to mention your next of kin, would rather that you be "safe than sorry" and call the professionals in to deal with an old, probably unstable, ordinance. Yes, it's a hassle, an inconvenience. But better a short term inconvenience than someone being maimed or killed. It is best to have it dealt with in situ, but since it's too late for that, don't move it anymore, and call the police.

You can shake it, roll it down the hill..(metaphorically speaking )..it's not going go off without the fuse on the nose of the ordinance. .it's inert..

Heck, we used to use M112 Comp.4's to light up the ever failing cook stoves in mesopotamia
