My and I were down at the creek behind our house and he said, "look dad," "I found a bottle!" I learned that its a vintage ink well bottle from the 30's! Thanks yall!
Tell your boy that he indeed found REAL GENUINE TREASURE!!! Very cool old inkwell bottle. The young Jedi has eyes like an eagle. He will find much treasure even without a metal detector. Well done.
I hate to burst your bubble, or that of your son, but for the sake of proper bottle identification, I should show you this. I found it in a bottle dump on a camping trip in the White Mountains of Arizona when I was a kid. Apparently there was a cabin or something where we camped, and there was the ruins of another old cabin nearby with an old wood stove still in it. 1930s sounds right. I found another bottle with it that dated back to the 1920s or 1930s or so, and there were a bunch of those old Prince Albert tobacco tins in the dump.
I think its a glue or polish bottle or something like that, with a lid like that.
