Had a great day working an area on an island in the Caribean that had alot of indentured servents in the 18 hundreds. They worked at the sugar mills & fields. There is some building going on and I have permission to "explore".
Im finding stuff at about 6 inches down in very hard ground (it's like cement). I found that the trick is to soak the area with a pail of water before I dig. I'm using an XLT.
Anyway, I came across this interesting piece & can't figure out what exactly it is.
It measures 1 5/8" & appears to be made out of brass. It says "WORLDS COLOMBIAN EXPOSITION CHICAGO 1898. The back is recessed and there are 2 tiny holes in the inside collar.
I also found a bunch of harmonica reeds...very cool! Will be posting more of the artifacts.
