All Treasure Hunting
I was detecting a house & barn that was last occupied in the 1940's. I was scanning the walls of the barn & got a good single. After removing some loose stone's I saw a metal box wrap in a plastic bag. My first thought was that it could be a box of coins put in the wall by someone that lived there. The box was locked so I pried it open with my knife.

What I saw in the box was a Tibetan prayer wheel. The plastic bag it was wrapped in had a date of 03/07/23 on it so I know the box was placed in the wall recently. I decided to put the prayer wheel & box back where I found it in the wall.
Who knows maybe putting the Tibetan prayer wheel back where I found it in the wall will give me some good karma and I can actually find a box full of coins.😀

Have you checked the geocache websites?
I have come across geocache while metal detecting and there used to be a geocache near by. They always have some type of tupperware container that's sealed but not locked and will have a log book the searcher will sign. The geocache container are hidden but left in the open.

Have you seen Annapurna Cafe’s prayer wheel? The Broadway Himalayan restaurant reported the wheel was taken earlier this week:

Prayer Wheel Stolen: Hand made Tibetan prayer wheel Stolen from our front entrance, we need community help! It might in garbage bin, a bush or in alley, keep a lookout any information please let us know. 206-320-7770. Thank you.
Annapurna has been part of Broadway for more than two decades. CHS visited with owners Roshita Shrestha and Sujan Sharma here in 2023 as they celebrated 20 years of business on Capitol Hill.

great find and great story, well done and thanks for posting the cool things we do

I wonder if someone stashed a piece of stolen booty. It seems weird to hide it in a wall. I’d put it back too.
You be surprise what visitors leave behind. I found everything from funeral memorial cards to guardian figures put in walls. I think the prayer wheel is probably something from Ebay .

We can never know what reason might cause a person to do what they do And what seems to be as a completely normal idea to one person may be absolutely ridiculous to anyone else. The first to consider is the possibility that we limit it our options because we have so little knowledge of how those people got through each ay And at the same time we assume so much of what we think they did when in their world our ideas where not a part of their thoughts When I find some thing rare or normal I begin to ask questions Did some one passing through leave it there Or was it left for a reason by a resident of this place And than you can maybe put together enough clues to make other finds that are derived from the answers to the questions you have concerning the original find Treasure hunting is more than seeking objects in myopinion

I was once told, “we all have our invisible friends/playmates. The difference is, most of us put them away before we answer the door.”
You are right. We can only guess at the motives of others.👍🏼

I think I'm as fascinated by the plastic bag as I am by the treasure.
Yes ... The date on the plastic bag was a big help in determining the box & prayer wheel was placed in the wall within the past year.
