kmk,
The mintmark Large M small O is from Mexico City.
Can you post a pic of both sides of your 'XX17' coin?
Don in SoCal.
Adding: Does the '17' coin have JJ after the Mo?
I will send you pics here shortly, but I need to clarify it's 17xx not xx17

I will send you an enlarged front and back. However, the date is 17xx and not xx17

No jj after the little "0" over the big "M"

Assuming the same size as your first coin, it's another 1/2R. The last number in the date appears to be a 9. Only two dates in that series (1772-1789) ended with a 9: 1779 and 1789. The third number looks more like it could be an 8 versus a 7--so I'd call it a 1789 1/2R from Mexico City.
Thanks for posting the pics.

You beat my oldest coin by 211 years. 😆
Congrats on a super find. I hope there are more.
