My Fortune Cookie Didn't Lie!!! - Oh Ya, Baby!
Ate lunch at Panda today... don't ask me why. I am trying to cut some weight and get back into shape so I can run a marathon again next year. Another story... But, I did get an interesting fortune (see pic below). You tell me if it wasn't spot on today.
Stopped at a bank before work to pick up some halves. I have bought many skunks and dumps from them before - in fact, this bank has never delivered a single silver. They said over the phone they had $200 worth, so I bought them all - that's what we preach here, right? ALWAYS buy them all. Three of the 20 rolls looked old school. Got my attention. Opened the end of the first one and what do I see? Walker reverse staring at me! SWEET! I have searched almost $250,000 in halves in the last 18 months and have yet to score a single solid 90% roll. Sure enough - not one, but THREE SOLID ROLLS OF 90% SILVER HALVES, BABY! And a 1906 Barber to boot! MY FIRST BARBER!
Here is the breakdown...
Barber: 1 (1906)
Walkers: 20 (1917, 36d, 40x2, 41x2, 41d, 42dx2, 43x3, 44, 44s, 45, 45d, 46s, Dateless x3 (1 d mint, 2 s mints)
Bens: 14 (1950dx2, 52, 54, 54s, 57d, 58d, 60, 61d, 62, 63x2, 63dx2)
Kens: 25 (64x19, 64dx6)
The rest of the rolls gave up just 2 40s: 66, 67.
In all, 60 90% halves and 2 40% halves! That's 22 troy ounces of silver, valued at $711.39 at today's spot price, for $31 out of pocket! I'll take that all day long.
Needless to say, it's still out there, folks. Keep looking, and don't give up. Your ship will come in! Enjoy the pics, friends!
