It's a one cent coin braided hair i do believe

Pix. of the back of it ?

Someone modified that to use as a button, great find. I have yet to find a large cent.

Congratulations, Randy! Most excellent for your 1st keeper.

Way to go! A coin AND a button!!:hello2:

How can i clean the back so i can show you a picture?

I was going to say modified button....awesome find

Hopefully there's more that i may have missed because I'm a newbie.
There will be, I've went over old spots with the same machine after I knew what I was doing...then found more.

Then...

Went over the same spot with a smaller coil and found more...

Then...

Did it again with a new detector and found more.

Haha

Nice! I went to 3 locations today. The first one i couldn't detect because the weeds are to high and the church camp was all new coins that was orange. Decided to come back home and search the yard.

Haha my yard would be torn up

Congratualtions on the old copper! :occasion14:

Nice old copper. One of my first large cents had 2 holes in it just like that. I think it was used as a button but an old timer once told me kids would put a string through those and spin them. A 1 cent toy for the children!
