I was too shocked to do a gold dance when I pulled these out of the hole. With a shallow, 8 on my Nox I almost didn't dig what turned out to be one of my best finds ever: gold, intact, cufflinks with the Tudor rose. A little research I think they are mid 1700's, not military but someone important. The bend on one was NOT my shovel but was existing.

I read somewhere that the octagonal cuff links were popular in the mid 1700s, which is consistent with your estimation. Beautiful 18th century gold like that belongs on the BANNER. Good luck and congratulations!

Those really show why it's worth digging everything. You simply NEVER know what's coming out of the ground. My banner vote is in for that awesome gold find- Congrats!

Absolutely stunning! I really like the Tudor Rose buttons and sleeve buttons but that's over the top. Congratulations
