Two hour hunt at the same spot...blah blah blah, I'm sure you get it by now lol
My Deus is hitting really deep iron and making it sing like it'should really good... I end up digging 12+ inches knowing it's iron, but still having to dig it... Had about 12 railroad spike and other random deep irons.
Then I get a beautiful signal and hit my first ever buffalo nickel! It's decently old one, 1920 but I can't make out the mint mark yet. I also pulled a 1926 wheat in the wall of the plug.
Last find I just assumed was like every other shotgun shell I find all the time. However, this metal seemed a little different so I gave it a quick google search by the writing and turns out it's old and not very common.
Winchester New Rival - The New Rival was made from 1897-1929 with the Winchester headstamp. The 1901 headstamp was also made from 1901-1920, but did not replace it. I have a very early one. It will date from 1897-1903. In 1904, this line of shells started using the "New No 4" primer, which mine does not have. It is actually a rare variety on this one. Note that it does not have the underscore under the 'o' in No. Pretty cool for a shotgun shell!
