Hi everyone. It’s been a year of firsts for me (first Spanish Real, first KG2 just a few days ago). This afternoon after work I pulled two “firsts” in one coin: first half-dollar and first Barber coin. I’m so excited about this beautiful 1901 Barber half dollar!

The quick story: first I visited a local park that produced some great silvers in 2019 and 2020, but it was a very unproductive visit. I found one wheat penny...that’s it.
On my drive home I decided to try another location (the front of an old private school property where I have permission). In the past I’ve found some tokens and one silver Washington quarter in this front property, so I wasn’t expecting much. And there’s a nearby cell tower that causes a lot of EMI on both my Equinox and Deus, making the detecting a challenge.

When my first signal with the Deus was a strong 95 I expected a bottle cap or similar, and was honestly shocked when this coin popped out.
I was so happy I packed up and went home after 10 minutes!

Yes Sir! That's how you do it!! I've been hunting a long time, and the Barber half continues to elude me. Big congrats on two great firsts!

Awesome coin!

Congrats on that half dollar find. I agree with the "toning" comment. Looks great the way it is. I still dont understand why they made Lady Liberty look like a man though?? That profile looks rough. Just some God Awful coins!! Lol

My only half I’ve ever found was a 1900 Barber and I know you’re eyes were as big as mine. Congratulations!!!!!!

Congrats,

They are tough to come by. That one is a nice example.
