I'm a little late posting my finds from the recent DIV. I've been under the weather since the last day of the hunt which resulted in me leaving the hunt around noon unfortunately. This DIV had a different feel to it, mainly because I didn't feel well and the people I was carpooling with didn't really wanna stay out late and didn't care about starting late either for that fact. That's a whole other story though. First day was going good and as usual for me. I was finding bullets left and right, mainly .69 cal roundballs. Found a 2 penny coin spill which consisted of a 1901 IH and a 1909 wheatie, found part to a barrel tap key. Overall just a nice day diggin' relics minus the 3 to 4 phone calls that started around 3:30(and we had til 6:30) asking if I was done digging yet. So around 5:30 and the last phone call I just said "sure, I'm done." just to appease them and called it a day. Second day we tried site 1 and it didn't really produce much in quantity, but around 12 noon I hit a field to the right of a larger field every one and their mother had pounded. I crawled under the fence and made a straight line between some other hunters and "BAM" great signal, dig down no more than 3 inches and standing there on edge looking right up at me was my first box plate!!! I yelled out to the other guys taking a break no more than 30 feet away and said "plate!" or "buckle!" something of that nature. lol I was stoked and they came over to admire my find that they had missed and walked right by. lol Overall that day I only dug 2 bullets, ringtail sharps and an enfield, kepi buckle and a silver plated flat button. Third day I already knew would be bad. I felt awful, body was aching...all the symptoms of the flu. I hunted in a confederate camp til about 12:47 pm, picking up several bullets, button back, brass pocket knife till I called it quits.

This was my third DIV and definitely won't be my last, it was just a number of things factoring into it not being an overall GREAT experience like the last 2 times. I did find a first and so that did make up for the other bad things. Thanks for looking and HH!

Thank you! 2 plates this year...never thought I'd dig even one!

Sweet plate!

Great finds as usual Matt congrats on a beautiful plate!!!

Sorry I'm so late replying to this post Matt. One of the things we hate is carpooling. It's tough at times to get like minded folks to ride together and at times there are conflicts. On the flip side of the coin there have been carpoolers who have formed lifetime friendships. Unfortunately carpooling is a necessary evil as some sites are restricted in size and we try to reduce the impact on the site as much as possible. I have, on occasions, made accomodations for folks that had a real conflict. Best thing to do is drive if you can. Hope you had a better time at 25.

25 was the polar opposite. Didn't find much, but the guys I carpooled with were awesome and made the experience so much better!

Looks good to me! I've wanted to go on a DIV hunt for the last 6 years. Maybe one of these days I'll be able to get up there.
