🥇 Banner finds

After yesterday's great barber half find I was going to take a break today but the detecting bug woke me up early and said lets go, and sooooo glad I did. I have found many rings over the years but not any that I can really brag about, till today! Was going to head to my barber lot when on my way there I took a different route about 5 minutes away from it. Passing thru a neighborhood that dates back to the early 1900's when I seen one of the homes had recently been tore down and a empty lot was screaming at me to stop. After a very slow start and a few wheats and a mercury dime later I was thinking, not as good as I thought it was going to be, than bam! A strong 81-82 on my At pro, dug down about 4" when I seen it, still not sure what I had till I picked it up and realized I found my best ring ever. Looks from the style to be from the 1920's, Amethyst and diamonds and is 10k marked. Taking to Jewelers this week for cleaning and appraisal. I am one happy guy.

No need for apologies, its all good. Were all just very passionate about this hobby, its easy to get caught up in a post sometimes. Ive been there done it. And believe me there are some lots I have had my weak moments of wanting to sneak in. Than common sense kicked me in my a$$ from going forward with my devious plan. Thanks for the comments and hope your hunts are productive. HH

Great find.
This is the one you will always remember.

Ray Ray, Congrats on one incredible find! The ring looks like it's close to new,see it does pay to listen to our "little voice" once in a while.HH....

Just wanted to thank you all for a overwhelming response on my find. I know it is not a huge find in gold weight but I soon realized we all see treasure in not just the normal standards of what some feel treasure should be. I'm am very honored for my banner and am glad to be part of this site to share our love for this hobby be it good or bad. Good luck and happy hunting.

Ray I found this in a yard/lot a couple weeks ago. It's sterling but tiny, doesn't even fit my 10 year olds pinky..... Found the gold one in the lot across the street

Digdig, those are both outstanding ring finds! You should be very proud. And best of all you found them in a lot. Lol. I have yet to find a thick gold band like that. HH

Ray I'm a contractor so I beep my clients properties anytime they let me and I also stop and talk to every GC project I see in my travels. In fact today I spoke with a builder, he asked for my ins certificate and once I sent it to him he gave me the go ahead on all his properties. He has 5 going now. I try and get it in before they tear the house down then again after they've scraped the lot. My best lot to date it 8 silver coins, that small ring I posted and 39 wheaties. They're not all like that but I've been lucky, last 3 months I've found at least one lot each month that's produced 7+ silver plus cool relics. Just hope it keeps up

I'm in the same profession and have a couple of great sites available come spring. We have some clients from Princeton NJ that are going to let me hunt there 1853 mansion when I get down there for a project. Were building them a place on the Maine coast right now and it's on a point that had some some late 17th century activity. It's awesome making new friends and new sites while you're making money at the same time. All the best, Abe

Great find..are you willing to sell? If so what value do you place on it?

I was in the construction field for awhile and had some great opportunities back in the early 90's. There's always alot of work hunting in teardowns but the pay offs out weighs the bad definitely. Alot of construction happening downtown here in Vegas, the sights I really want to hunt in I recieved a no go, so I just stare from the fence and wonder whats going to be lost under all the new cement. Sounds like there quite productive for you. Keep up the freat finds.

Ray you have no idea, the oldest hotel in Fl has been closed, vacant & rotting for 6 years. I spent 5 months speaking to the owners attorney every Friday trying to get permission, he just gave me the absolute no last Monday. WW2 soldiers were housed there before being deployed, 4 presidents had stayed there, multiple celebrities & it was built in 1897. Freaking kills me cause they're going to level it and put up condos which means parking lots

And here in Fl the schools are off limits, they have 4-6 foot chain link around them. Most parks are off limits and anything historical has been paved over or fenced in. Construction lots are my only choice

That just sucks! Really makes me appreciate all of the great accessible old sites here in Maine. You can basically head out into any wooded area around here and potentially find a great piece of history. It makes me sick when I hear about places being covered up forever. Sad sad sad

Sounds like we have the same off limits areas, thats why I have become a lot master, the lots here new and especially the older ones in the not so safe areas are what I have to hunt if I want to find silver and relics. Thank goodness for the street and sidewalk tear outs here there pretty productive.

Bro I'm originally from Massachusetts, so coming here has been a huge adjustment in regards to places to hunt. The first 5 years I basically didn't beep at all out of frustration. Then I did water hunting for a while, now I'm like RayRay, I'm a lot hunter

I'm glad this topic come about. It really makes me appreciate the acres and acres of beautiful hunting grounds I have at my disposal. I live on a river and get to watch eagles flying on a daily basis. I know every area has it's advantages and it's downfalls as well but being immersed in all of this nature and undisturbed wilderness is truly a blessing. I have a lot of respect for you guys that have to fight for every piece of dirt and site just to be able to swing your machines. If either of you ever get to the northeast if love to take you out to some of the stunning coastal sites that I hunt.

I'll be in Mass this summer at least a couple weeks, we'll have to plan something. This is what I have to hunt & keep in mind I hunt down the GC, the builder or the owner before I step foot on any lot but there's at least 3 guys I've run into in the area on the weekends that just hunt them, thinking no one would mind. So they sometimes beet me to it cause I'm trying to get permission, they're just walking on as soon as they see it.
